"Goldenblood’s house." Jesus christ this guy REALLY liked Fluttershy. Or she just had the house made for him. Or had an extra house. Thats kinda creepy dude.
"Rarity wearing a stunning dress in black and red." Hmm. The black I can see. Black goes with almost anything. But the added red might make it clash a little bit with the purple mane. Well, Rarity knows what she is doing, so I guess I'll leave her to it. ...Why was that the only thing that caught my attention. And when did I ever become fascinated in the dresses worn by technicolor equines?
"In drawers under the workbench were spools of copper, silver, gold, and steel wire, verified with a nibble on each." I wonder what different metals taste like. Do they taste the same, or do they have distinctive flavors? I'd bet gold tastes like lemon.
“I likely have a month to live. Two at the most." Were it so easy.
“If you don’t, Professor, somepony else will.” Now that is a scary thought. Goldenblood was bad. Really bad. Fucking horrible. But he was also the best option. I'm actually really interested to see what the alternative would create. Perhaps this whole appocalypse thing could've been avoided. Or made about fifty times more !FUN!.
“I think… I’ve been thinking… maybe I should enlist?” Psalm seems more delicate than Fluttershy. And yet she became a member of one of the most elite fighting forces in Equestria. Does Goldenblood have a thing for those kinds of mares?

It's only been an hour or two and you've already almost killed him. Perhaps twice if you count punching his face off.
"Even Vanity’s memory orb had been fun; had it been viewed in private, I probably would have had a new toy." Yeah, I had always wondered about that. I'm glad that my guesses were confirmed. Think about what kind of application that would have in Human Land. That would be some amazing porn.

'I wonder which was named first, the color orange or the fruit orange. Why aren't lemons called yellows or something like that? Who first thought of drinking cow milk? What was he trying to do? When did pasturization come about? Lemonade tastes really good, though I would prefer just lemon juice. Why do I keep thinking about fruit? Pinkie Pie didn't participate in the Running of the Leaves because she can run faster than anypony due to her access and control over hammerspace.'
"But perhaps you get to dream when you’re dead…" Based on that scene after you died, kinda. It was weird, and mostly exposition for the readers since BJ didn't remember anything. Did she remember anything? I don't think she did.
"P-21 muttered beside me, rolling his eyes." Yep, crazy. Dream crazy land. Oh boy, better get my 'In case of crazy break glass' case ready.
“Actually? There’re some theories that the transformation occurred with no magic at all,” I suppose it's easy to become jaded towards science when you deal with magic every day.
"I mean… did something kill all of these creatures at once?” Soul eating meteor perhaps? It's just gotta go and mess stuff up for everyone.

“NAY!” she said as she magically put the pieces of armor in place." And thus, Princess Luna ascends into the form of Nightmare Moon to bring about eternal night for the crazy space rock. This is a very weird universe.

“Yeah. I am. If you’re still interested?” Things just suddenly got a lot more interesting. Where are ya going with this, Somber?
“Really good, Styggie. Really… really really good…” That was absolutely adorable. Styggie... I'll remember that name.
“We’ve only just started…” Jesus, BJ. You might not kill him with bullets and strangling but there are certainly other ways to do it.
"Come on... get in there... I can’t spend all day just lying around on Goldenblood and Fluttershy’s be--" I just remembered what bed they did it in. I bet Goldenblood would be pissed. If he ever used the bed, that is.
“Something Twilight would never do nor authorize,” Goldenblood murmured. “You know this.” But she didn't need Twilight to do it. She got somepony else.

“At least… at least it will help them with dumb glass bullets…” Now that, is how you give an excellent monolouge. Bravo Fluttershy, bravo. She also adresses the primary WTF factor of war. Many weapons are designed to kill. But if they don't kill, they are also designed to maim enemy soldiers in such a way that the enemy has to expend massive amounts of resources to save the soldier. Often, it isn't worth it. But we are obsessed with keeping other humans alive, so we do it. And then those methods win.
"If the zebras get their hooves on megaspells, the war will have to stop." MAD doesn't work. It only makes things worse.
"I supposed that, either way, it really sucked." Yep. The appocalypse happened, thanks to Fluttershy. But, of course, they are forgetting something. The ponies had the most powerful entity known to the entire world. They had the fucking sun. And they didn't use it. Herp a derp.
"Of course, we both needed a shower; we were positively ripe." Round... eight? What are you up to at this point. Also, what is with major protagonists and having really long sexual adventures? What was Pip up to, 37?

“It was wrong twelve years ago and it’s wrong now,” 12 years. On the one hand, that is a long war. On the other hand, how long do these ponies live? 25 years? So now we are talking about a 40-50 year war in human time. Or something. Christ this is confusing.
“Oh, that’s quite all right. I’m sure I’ll find something to occupy my time.” This brings to light an interesting question. What DID Tia do for all that time she was out of power? Was she just hiding? Maybe that is why they didn't use the sun. Or maybe because it wouldn't be moral. Ugh, hate that word. It makes things so much more complicated.
"The yellow pony laughed about how functionality took priority over aesthetics." Again with the fucking core. What is it's purpose? A starship? A giant tractor beam for the moon? A big 'fuck you' sign to the zebras that will lift off and hover over the capital?

It kind of did, according to the death experience in 34. Are you asking about a language barrier (your question is a bit unclear)? I assume that Stygius just learned some Equestrian. Given the batponies' long relationship with Luna, I doubt that their cave is just a big empty hole in the ground.
I asked Somber about this; Stygius's armor is either a replica or an original from which the enchantment has faded over time. We might find out more details later, but it doesn't particularly matter at the moment.

Okay, I'll keep this as short and sweet as I can.
I'm not much for the page by page, action by action "review", but an overview of what I think and feel. For the less spoilery TL:DR "review" I liked the chapter, I liked what happened in it. Some parts I didn't like but doesn't take away how good a chapter it is.
And for me, this chapter is anti-33.

- First and foremost I think this is a DAMN good chapter. Not one of the better ones but a damn good one. This is the chapter I've been waiting on for the past three chapters. This is the chapter I've been waiting on since Chapter 34 when they left Manehattan. This is the chapter I've needed to read. This is the chapter I said was needed after 42 and especially after 43. This is a 'breathing episode" chapter and one that was almost overdue.
Regardless of it was only for five minutes or for five hours, I cheered for joy when Blackjack was finally able to go to sleep. And while I wasn't too keen reading it, I'm really happy Blackjack was able to overcome what happened to her in chapter 33.
Only other thing I can say is that I like the handling of how Luna's Guards came to be even if it was a little random with them showing up. I'm not going to complain too much though seeing how Blackjack now has a companion to keep her company, in more ways then one, until she can get back to her friends, who I hope are having a more restful time even if they're worrying about Blackjack.
As for the ending setting up what's going to happen next chapter.. "Oh Damn."

A small amount of thoughts because of how laughably terrible I am at reviewing things.

- Am I the only one who found Blackjack's personality... off, I guess? I can't really explain why. This may be because of the change of perspective Somber was given on "girl's brains".
So there was lots of character development, which is splendid, but the sexual aspect of the chapter was a bit... draggy, I guess. Although, it kinda makes sense due to her reluctance after the Seahorse incident.
There were a lot of memory orbs and dream scenes, which gave very interesting details. Goldy conspired to kill Celestia, but never went through with it, Flutters broke off because of a name, and Goldy had quite an interest in gems and rocks.
And am I the only one who thinks Stygius is going to be killed? Soon? Not that I hate the character, but the mute act seemed... kinda old, because, well, Boo.
Steel Rain is more than likely pissed, so Blackjack is going to have a fierce fight on her hooves next chapter.
Very sorry.

Not sure how to use the spoilers so skip this comment if you have not read it yet.
So Blackjack finally gets some well deserved R&R and it's about time if I don't say so my self. However Steel Rains back......... Yeah they are fucked so horribly.
On another note I've taken a shine to our new batpony friend and while the party is getting a little big I really do hope he stays he could be a great duo with Boo..... And my love for him has absolutely nothing to do with the possibility of him being able to go fus-roh-da on a couple of chumps as evidenced by his sonic powers.
Now what seems to be the big issue is Blackjack sleeping with him and I'm probably in the minority with this one but I'm okay with it due to in parts that BJ really needed that to help alleviate some of the metric ton of issues she has and to prevent a regrettable incident from happening in the future and part of a personal thing........ I just don't like Glory for various reasons some shallow some deep... Chapter 34 did say "but the sister wisely banished her from the earth and to the moon where the glowing light could leech out her poison and venom till a chance at redemption was possible." although contact between moonstone and star metal causes a quick, violent release of energy as opposed to a gradual leeching. It is true like you say, however, that NMM wasn't simply dropped on the moon, she had her essence fused with it, or something. I guess that's supposed to cause a different reaction, then?O. I mean speaking the regular pony language as in physically speaking it. I do not doubt that Stygius could have learned how to understand and write equestrian somewhere. Since the enchantment on Lionheart's armor has managed to last this long, Stygius's armor has to be either a replica, or a set that was never enchanted. The fact this speech difference between Luna's guards and the other batponies wasn't explained in this chapter makes it seem almost at odds with Fo:E's lore. A simple sentence like "Luna gave her guards armor that was enchanted to allow them to speak the way other ponies do" would have cleared things up. Perhaps Somber has some plan to explain it in the future, but as things stand, it doesn't really make sense.

Not necessarily. Lionheart was a Canterlot ghoul fused with his armor, and that might allow the enchantment to linger. I wouldn't say it conflicts with Fo:E's lore so much as it takes another view point. Perhaps Lionheart is a bat pony, given the fact that he is a ghoul it is likely that he has been distracted with undeath that a commonly used secondary language becomes more habitual than bat pony language, AND the fact that he did use to live 200 some odd years ago he most likely developed the lingual skill then. Or his armor is enchanted(to an extent at this point, i say that mostly because he looks like a bat pony ghoul instead of a ghoul in disguise) to give him the illusion and he is just a pegasus, that works too. (who knows)
Meanwhile Mr. Mcsuavestuff(Stygius) and his family have lived in seclusion for who knows how many years, most likely feeding off of the cave mushrooms and what ever could be considered viable prey(radhogs)(I think that they would have a more carnivorous diet because of the whole 'bat' element) the point is they would rarely see an outsider, let alone converse with them. Styggie obviously has developed a way to converse with outsiders(most likely because he is a hunter/scout and would generally spend most his time outside), but because he never had the need to verbally converse he never developed the skill to communicate in equestrian besides his chalkboard or whatever and his sign language. he still has bat pony language, but when it concerns non bat ponies it becomes irrelevant. Perhaps Styggie will take Blackjack back to the cave and this can be explained more and we can have drama without anything being said... well besides little bat pony squeaks and a whole bunch of pointing.
the thing i like best about Boo and Styggie is the fact that they don't have to say anything to be heard.

why you no like glory? I wouldn't say i hate her, but like scotch has said, glory is boring. sure her initial shipping with BJ was sudden and unusual, but it is also entertaining (ifyouknowwhatimean.jpg)(nah, i kid, i kid) but in all seriousness, she isnt bad. She's no Boo or Stygilicious, but she isnt nearly as bad as... uhhh... i dunno, can't really think of bad characters in PH(or atleast characters that have been given screen time, except Raider Stallion number 4. I'M WATCHING YOU RAIDER STALLION NUMBER 4, YOU LITTLE B*TCH) the point is she should be about neutral at least. she could be given more time, and now that Styggie is here, things could start getting fun.
On a side note, would it be okay for me to post my drawings here?(if i work up enough courage to share my 'art') I like to draw a little and as of recently most of it has been PH stuff. I mean, I think it looks good enough, but I don't know... I would like to share it, but i don't think it would be appreciated any where else. but if you don't want to see it that is okay too.

I don't have a really good idea of how the world is laid out so I didn't notice that while reading, but I'd say it's one of the things marking the scene (beyond the familiar faces) as somewhat less than exact. And who knows (beyond Somber) which other parts were distorted; maybe the zebras weren't quite so helpless, or more likely, the guns weren't stopped. I personally like her. Not so much her interaction with Blackjack (though I don't mind it) but her reaction to the wasteland. I'd say she's been one of the most affected by it, especially considering how naïve and optimistic she was when she first arrived. I wonder how she's been dealing with her joke since we last saw her?

I have mixed feelings about this chapter. Basically every part with Stigyius in it had me hissing in anger. He's following BlackJack around for no reason other than that he wants to have sex with her. Just because he spills a lot of spaghetti doesn't make him an innocent, nice guy. He's sleazy, and he took advantage of BlackJack when she was hurt and confused.
BlackJack: "Sorry Stygius, it's just that I was horribly raped two weeks ago, and I'm still kind of emotionally traumatized."
Styigius: "Oh... Sex now?"
BlackJacks eagerness to cheat on Glory was also frusterating. We find out later that it's because BlackJack doesn't think of it that way what with her Stable upbringing, but up untill then I thought she was just cheating on her.
Also, about 2 thirds of the chapter are spent with BlackJack thinking about sex. When she finally does, it seemed like you went into more detail than necessary. Even when your main character is a human, you want to keep things tasteful. You don't want to include details you don't have to. I didn't need to hear about how wet she was, or soft his touch is. Especially when the characters are horses. Then it goes straight from distasteful and right into 'Oh God, Why.'
However, the chapter started to pick up speed again in the ending. The entire scene with Goldenblood and Celestia was brutal. And Goldenbloods threat afterwards... yikes. This chapter did a great job of humanizing Goldenblood. Like Blackjack said, up untill now we've only seen the plotting and scheming mastermind. It was interesting to see his personal life.
Looking back at my review, some of my comments sound pretty harsh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be mean. I was just pretty annoyed by both BlackJack and Stigyius' behavior, and really wasn't enjoying the sexual parts. I'm sorry if I sounded mean, I love your story!
