If not, then there's just hoping that the souls eventually wear out to the point where the talisman stops functioning, or that she gets crushed by a slab of Moonstone to the point where she is unable to regenerate, like with the tank she was found underneath.

And yes, there are plenty of people who expect Charity to be Generosity, but I've never been one of them. I've always seen Blackjack as a great fit there, probably even more so than for Magic. - That said, I would have been pretty unhappy about it if Scotch had died—of asphyxiation or freezing in the tram because Blackjack couldn't teleport her. It would have been a real let-down, and such a meaningless end to her run, especially in the same chapter where P-21, Rampage, and even Echo had much bigger deaths (or fate worse than death) in the process of accomplishing something.
I had a lot of the same feelings, and would be interested in seeing the same. I actually thought that the Boo scene would have been very interesting and am kind of sad it didn't happen, since it would be a great capstone to her arc. - P-21 spent too much time this chapter cheating death. The sniper, Cognitum, the mechasprites. I hadn't counted on Rampage following so soon after, and that was more of a surprise. But what really gets me is when she came back and was stuck wandering the moon, having her skin mutilated for all eternity. That is far worse than P-21's demise. Truly melancholy chapter, and my own choice is musical accompaniment didn't dull it either.

I don't think Tom was all that bad. I don't know why Somber was so worried about him. I liked that one bastard with the gun.

I was actually thinking about this way back when we were theorizing about Cogs' nature. You can't create a brain copy and have that be an accurate reproduction of the original. If nothing else, hormones have widespread and subtle influences that powerfully affect things like mood and desires. Which isn't to say you can't simulate the influence of hormones, but it'd take a lot more than a snapshot of a brain.The constant slurry of chemical reactions, hormones, and metabolic shifts creates a more dynamic individual.
Cogs is not Luna in any way, shape, or form. If anything, she's an identical twin who grew up with the same experiences, but diverged radically from Luna over 200 years ago. (Imagine how different you are from yourself a decade ago, then multiply that course change over 20 times...) And that's not even accounting for the Eater's influence.

I'm shocked you can say that after seeing BJ's own battle with depression over her actions. Luna was a responsible adult who made her choices; banishing her was painful for Celestia, but she could take solace in the fact that she did what she did to protect her little ponies, and not doing so would have led to great suffering. The children of Littlehorn were innocents placed in the line of fire by Celestia's decisions alone, and their deaths were utterly pointless and made the situation worse. I'm not saying she should have been able to foresee this eventuality; of course not. But since when has that ever mattered to guilt?Icy Shake wrote:I disagree. I really liked the callback to the GIVE IT TO ME! Cognitum we first saw way back in chapter 26. Not bringing Luna on to rule together as promised at the start of season one to start. A hardline anti-duarchy stance (which, yes, does at least get some support from the first condition, but bear in mind, that needed to be a Luna trait from FoE, not PH). No other parallel case arising in the intervening time, and the failure of the main cast to step in and help before ever having been involved with the war or separated. Basically, it feels to me like a plot point that was included because a shake-up of the status quo was desired (and I'm not even sure strictly needed), rather than arising naturally from events and traits already established about the characters involved.

Very good chapter, I really enjoyed it. And I actually agree with swicked.

- I figured someone was going to die, though I actually expected it to be Scotch, and P-21 was also one of my favorite characters. I do have a question directed at the editing team regarding Rampage though. If Blankjack had a connection to Rampage and Blackjack was looking through Blankjack's mind wouldn't she have seen that Rampage chose to leave rather than die?

I was just thinking -- Given that Tom has to make that loopy path around the sun and moon, if it got launched with far more force than anticipated, shouldn't it be way off target now?

Not necessarily. The gun could just have been using a larger force so that Tom would still be at the proper speed at the proper time; the launch was delayed, after all. The chapter also doesn't say that it was the calculated launch force, even; it could have been something else. Nor is it said just what the increases were... Here's the description we're given in chapter 65:
The cavity that surrounded us was more immense than anything I’d ever seen, in any memory or in person. Six enormous stone pillars reinforced with unbreakable starmetal scaffolds kept the whole thing from collapsing, even as bits of the ceiling occasionally tumbled down around us. And there, in the center, was what could only be one thing:
The Tokomare.
A pair of massive, corkscrew-like concentric starmetal spires rose from the immense underground lake that filled the bottom of the cavern, the inner coil climbing clockwise and the outer counterclockwise; in the center was a column of what I could only describe as brilliant white glow. The whole looked to be at least a mile in diameter.

Should also be noted that currently, the main helices at least are very pitted and full of holes (large compared to pony scale, small compared to the Tokomare itself) from where mechasprites removed a bunch of starmetal for reinforcing or reconstructing the Core.
