Well, look at our current wars. First it was Afghanistan, the public was okay with it because we wanted revenge. Then iraq, that was partly the government telling us we had to and the general public just assumed they were the same bad guys (of course there's the whole oil angle, but that's got more to do with the oil companies than the public). And now there's ISIS, which is getting support because they basically are what the government told us Al Qaeda was.

You're only just hearing about this?  Well, I suppose it took time for the news to get overseas.  Yep.  Though I've heard that the people who really weren't paying were some big companies with water bills in the millions.

The idea of it really leading to terrorism hadn't occurred to me, though.  A full revolution still doesn't seem likely, however.

My inner anarcho-communist feels that if it isn't going to lead to terrorism, then it ought to.

Well, I disagree regarding the anarchism (I don't have a problem with anarchosocialism and anarchocommunism while they're active, but I think that, like any anarchist system, they're unstable and at risk of collapsing into something more authoritarian (or just being conquered by an external power).  It makes more sense to me to try and structure a good authoritarian system from the start and reduce the risk of a "that crazy guy seized all the power and set up a corrupt dictatorship" scenario.  Corruption is still the big problem, though, and one that I'm not entirely sure how to solve.  Though...  Hm.  Nah.  Detroit's a relatively small area and might even be able to manage Kowloon-Walled-City-style infrastructure, but any Detroit Commune would probably have to bring everything it had to bear to resist being reconquered by the United States; that includes organization.  There's also the problem of food, and raw materials in general.  Trade with Canada would solve that, but it would be tricky to set up.  The quickest solution would probably be seizing farmland surrounding the city, but that would upset the USA even more and require that the territory be held, including against a scorched earth strategy.  In the longer term, unused land in the city could be converted to urban farming of various sorts (vertical farms would be most efficient, but they'd also take a lot more resources to set up and be vulnerable to attack).  A tricky problem...), but I'm with you on the rest.  Of course, there's the problem of the innocent workers in those facilities; any such movement would be damaged by attacking the proletariat, and the elite present much smaller and more hardened targets.

As for the anarchy thing, well, I don't believe the people would be able to handle it, but I still like to see it as a worthy ideal, people freely cooperating with each others as equal instead of being coerced by an higher authority.

I kinda see it as the logical extension of the marxist thought. Though I may be mistaken, not having read the damned thing.

Ah. I'd still worry about the night janitors and such, but with so few people, some sort of "You have x seconds to get out of the building" warning would work.
Other targets might include the surplus houses of the super-rich.

Aye. Basically, my issues with anarchism are the same as with marxism and unbridled free-market economics, in that it looks great from a theoretical standpoint, but in a real world setting, it would be approximately 2.34 seconds before someone shat in the swimming pool.

@Hinds, RE Corsican independentists: well, actually it's more akin to a mob justifying its existence and its various racket business through the "cause" than a real independence movement.

Kinda like ETA in its last decades (the Basque independence party armed wing, operating both in France and Spain).

For the record, I'm Baptist, so yeah... no. They do not.

I was raised Baptist (of the more unpleasant Fundy type) and even they don't even come close to those chucklefucks. 

In the same vein, Islam, no matter your opinions on the religion or the nations with the religion established, is not composed entirely of head-taking fanatics.
