Fantasy, while it gets to play by its own rules, also has to have internal consistency. Frank Herbert just wanted knife-fights (having clearly little familiarity with actual knife-fights) and didn't want to bother justifying it logically. Thus, glaring plot holes like "We could have invulnerable soldiers right now". Of course, this is the same series that has quasi-psychic warrior women running a eugenics program by fucking the inbred nobles, so it's clear that it's not quite on the same page as silly things like "Anyone not being a fucking pillock"

Merely okay. It seemed to drop in quality for the last few episodes. Apparently they changed a few things from the manga around, and the SnK community on Tumblr exploded slightly.
