Only reason I'm piping up now is because that is the one scene from Doctor Who I have ever watched. I may get around to actually watching it eventually but being told I should watch or read something turns me off from doing either. Case in point, Doctor Who and Homestuck.

No one's ever told me to try homestuck. Despite, I tried reading some of it. I can't say I got more than a couple dozen pages in before deciding it wasn't worth it.

Yeah, the first few arcs are rather slow to say the least, that's because Hussie was running it with reader input, which he dropped once the plot really started getting going.

Personally homestuck is better if you skip a couple arcs.

Which ones I might ask?

Quite honestly this isn't much of a surprise seeing how they did Sunset Shimmer's backstory.

Yeah the comics are canon with the show, but until they start having character's actively going between the two worlds I don't think we have too much to worry about as far as the show itself is concern.

I, too, am curious as to Katt's opinion.

Also, I was going to give y'all pictures of my crossbow, but I fumbled with the picture-uploading shit for about ten minutes before I just decided "fuck it". Instead, me and my dad just shot it some.

The first shot I've ever taken with a crossbow, let alone such an archaic one, was me nailing a three-inch fencepost some thirty-five yards distant. Maybe it was luck, maybe it was the intuitive nature of the weapon. Or maybe it's just because I fucking rule.

The first time I fired a (real, not fair-ground one) compressed air carbine and shot a series of five BBs in the 8-9 at 10 meters, the instructor asked me if I had ever shot a CAC or a firearm. 'Cause in his word, the way I handled the weapon showed I had the "shooter's instinct" (well, translated from French).

I said nope. On the other hand I practiced archery for six years once almost every weeks, so I guess there was some transfer of competences ?

It certainly doesn't hurt that I handle firearms near-intuitively as well. While the three skillsets (crossbow, bow and firearm) are different, even fundamentally so, the mindset required is fairly similar.

Certainly doesn't hurt that the crossbow, unlike any of my guns, is effectively recoilless, so speed and accuracy in firing is really dependent on how well you can eyeball your target with the arrow.

As a fringe benefit, I've been meaning to step up my arm workouts in addition to all the running I've been doing, so practicing with the bow will come in handy.

Well, unless you go for these monster 40+ pounds bows, they're actually fairly easy to handle without much effort. I mean, scrawny me managed without problem. Though my bow is a 28-pound, so there's that, too...

I'm not sure the draw weight on my crossbow, to be honest, though it's tough enough to sling a bolt with little drop over thirty yards, and shoves the bolts several inches into solid ground, so I'd say it's on the tough side, probably 50+

I read the ComicCon bonus thing of the Sunset Shimmer one, and it was as good as the rest of the comics. Also, I think that the writers of the show can only really say what's going to be in the show, as far as canon is concerned, so if they say that it was a one-off which won't come back in the foreseeable future, I'd believe them. If the comic people want to tackle it, I say let 'em - they've got more room to make it interesting and/or good, anyway.

Huh. I asked my dad what he thought the approximate draw weight was, and he mentioned it was probably closer to a hundred pounds. Either I'm stronger than I think I am, or I'm a horrible judge at weighing things. Probably more the latter.

All this talk about consoles vs PC reminds me that I need to show my PS3 more love.

Though really, last game I got for it was Resident Evil 6. I could be wrong but I think games like that are better on consoles than PCs, just like how games like Skyrim, Fallout and X-Com are better on PC.
