Managed to get to Komarovo and grab a hatchet - at least now I'm armed and capable of killing zombies silently.
with any luck, I'll be able to make my way through balota - over to Cherno where we raid often, and get any decent stuff.

Uhhh. some french server, didn't take note.
The 261 is too dark to play on so I went back to the day z launcher menu, told it to go by ping and clicked the first french flag one.

I can try find out for you if you'd like, but I doubt you'd have as good ping on it as I do and thus not find it so easily.

Kipp press "I" and you could see server's name there

I found another enfield, if anyone wants it.

Anyway, I managed to get my ass over to the warehouse south of Balota but I really have learnt my lesson; zombies are risky business even with a melee weapon.

I did get a lot of food & drink however, but nowhere near enough to cover the blood I lost. Enough to keep me alive some time though.

I have voice for Skype, you should come online.

A few tips with the hatchet:
Use third person.
The circle in the middle of the screen isn't where you are hitting, the one that moves around is.
Crouch, and sneak for kills from behind.
The hatchet has a range, swing at them at ranges you would shoot people with shotguns in Call Of Duty.

RIP Niall - Killed by stairs

Someone came to take the stuff on the body, I killed him, but he got a few shots on me.
I dropped my backpack to pick up his ALICE, and I found out my legs were broken. I tried to crawl to him, but the stairs bit me. 3k blood, no bandages, bleeding, broken legs.
+side, I have an Enfield with plenty of ammo and a revolver in the same state.

I had a 1911 with plenty of ammo

this game is fucking harsh. if it was a full retail game, rather then a mod in alpha, I would go fucking ballistic at the stairs killing me, at dying for no reason in the first place.

forgot to say, I have morphine but currently trapped atop of a firestation in Elektro, plenty of dead player bodies here and there was a lot of shooting beforehand. All the bodies have been stripped of everything useful though, asides from the one morphine I took.
Switching server to maybe hopefully get a gun spawn (if I'm lucky? AK)

I now have an M16A2 x 1, PDW (uzi), two hits of morphine, 1 clip fro the M16, 3 for the PDW, a hatchet again...


Had to move out of there upon seeing my food/water meter, hoping to find food in this house I've got myself into (coordinates: http://dayzdb.com/map#6.105.130 )

I'm in the blue square, best I can tell. I just found a water canteen (filled) but I'm still lacking any food or matches (matches would be perfect because of hunting... then again, no knife.)

I'm going to need food, but gun wise I'm fine as I've also got a backup macaroni with 4 clips.

Lessons from today;

Some risks are worth it, It's not worth risking it around a player you don't know though.
STAIRS ARE FUCKIN' LETHAL.
be careful of how you move in groups around stairs, or even solo.
Electro is dangerous, but not forbidden. Just keep eyes open, ears scanning and wits about you.


Ketchup now has an ALICE bag like I'd promised (after I coaxed him into checking a certain building I knew of) and I have a new czech.

I'm now running around, helping my friends. I think I need to rename myself to Rescue Ranger -.-

While Ketchup went off and died a horrible death by glitches, I've got an AK-74 (I found a DMR. It's a shame my backpack is too small to carry it, but I'm not a bandit anyway, so why bother?), lots of ammo, some STANAGs if you need them, Kippershy, (lots, like five). No blood packs remaining on me or Ketchup, because he's dead, but I've got meat, bandages, and morphine on me. I should get out of Balota's military camp soon, going back to the docks.

I helped help you once, and you helped me/kipper at least 3 times. If you need favors, don't hesitate to ask, because helping friends in DayZ is so much fun anyway.

Yeah, I just helped my friend and we decided to fill our canteens...oh how wrong we were...
I have now broken legs, but full Blood, my friend used morphine and went to Cherno to find another morphine shoot. Also, my other friend, who needed morphine in first place found bicycle and now..with broken legs...riding in sunset to Cherno.

Good thing for blood packs and morphine, huh?

The bicycle part doesn't make any sense.

I've been wondering... how exactly does the voice chat work? Can anyone hear it, like normal? I think I remember hearing that DayZ will only let you talk to people nearby, but I'm not sure.

While the normal zombies are rendered by the server, zombies attacking you are rendered by your computer, which leads to lagging zombies.

We use skype, never tried in-game. Kipper says it doesn't work with his device.

The following exchange occurred between Ketchup and I shortly before I got killed by a bandit while waiting near the docks for him. This was in close quarters:

"Hey, I see a person, it must be Katarn."

"Katarn? Katarn isn't there yet."

*Heartbeat actually accelerates*

Shortly thereafter we killed each other with a spray of automatic fire. He combat-logged when Ketchup confronted him after he re-spawned and looted both corpses.

Finally the storm in my area passed and I can play without fear of my computer crashing because of micro blackouts

Killed by a guy with an enfield I coulda picked up, chose a winchester instead.

Actually, I joined another server and got another winchester. ALICE bags are actually statistically not too rare. In comparison, I found a bear trap, which spawns in the less common farm areas at 0.89, the same as a CZ 550. ALICE packs can be found at any residential at 0.85.

What do you guys think? Perhaps just a little to the left of Ozerko? It's either there or between the two pools of water between Ozerko and Kopyto.
Even if we don't put anything massively valuable in there; just some easier to obtain but still nice to have essentials?

LU261 it'll be when I do it then. Just gotta get round to it, since:

1. I'm out over in Balota still, quite the decent trek.
2. It takes up three spaces of my invo, but will allow us for a lot of storage on stuff we feel safe risking.


I mean, we could in theory go even safer with it and put it at either extreme of the map - far bottom left or far top right -- never really find anyone out those stretches of the map due to the location of Cherno and Electro being in the middle.
Perhaps between Pavlovo and Kamenka?
