Wouldn't it be better if the tent was on another server with fewer players, decreasing the chance that the tent is detected and looted? You'd have to switch servers each time you want to get something from the tent though.

There's no real way to tell how many players will frequent a server over a long time unless you sit there watching it for a day or two.
Even then, there's no way of stopping a player from simply getting lucky and finding it, as rare as it should be if you do it properly.

I have seen a good few tents in REALLY poor places though, such as inside frequently visited buildings like hospitals and one just out in the middle of the street a few meters away from the very same hospital (different server) in Elecktro.

If one was to find a vehicle, would it be a bit to crass (ie obvious) to leave it parked outside the stash? Not saying I have one, but I found a few parts and it got me to wondering.

And I have to say sorry, Ketchup. I'm leaving soon, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to make it right now anyways.

I still say ya'll should stick to that spot till others discover it. From the sound of it that was a great spot.

It really was a great spot in being out of the way. The only better spot would be the very top right hand of the map, but that's simply -too- far out of the way for what we do.

Need matches. Apparently, starting a fire without matches is far too hardcore for people who can run for hours on end.

We raided the hospital, lots of medical supplies, but no antibiotics.

If you find oil can, you can lit it up without matches and cook some meat.

Random thought: DayZ needs marshmallows. There's already fire.

Yeah. Some post-Soviet country, zombies, survivors trying to live for another day..campfire..marshmallows.
So you just know. For those, who live in post-Soviet countries this is marshmallow, not this. And we don't cook/bake marshmallows on fire..though we might bake bits of meat/bread/salo.

Hrm. Interesting. Soviet marshmallows look tasty, in any case. We cook sausages/hotdogs and other meats over fire, too.

As far as I understand, marshmellows over a fire are more of a... tradition of age rather then a common practical thing.

For when you're out camping, you simply do it because that's the way it is, ya know?

Maybe it would be cool if they added something along the lines of challenges, to give the game another goal. Like "hunt and cook meat" or "kill 10 zombies", things like that. And, roast marshmallows.

Dunno why, but talk about marshmallows reminded me about this picture. And game/mod still in beta, also I've heard, that they will develop stand-alone game and will charge 10-15$ for it.

Well, so I thought I'd try to get in a little practice on DayZ finally!

Logged in, "Oh hey, there's a little town nearby, and a warehouse, sweet. Let's go check it out!"
On the way in, I alert a zombie. I run around the corner of the warehouse and drop to the ground, and fortunately it loses aggro and wanders off. I let out a big sigh of relief and crawl my way to the warehouse. There's a tire inside. "Well, how useful."
So I crouch and walk out of the warehouse, "Hey what's that? Oh, a guy on a bicycle."
And then he shoots me.

Well that was a quick try!

Raided deer stands near Bor, received an M1014 with two magazines of slugs, and an AK-74, with which I used the ammo to load my AKS-74 Kobra, 3 magazines. Other than that, the most memorable loot was an M9SD mag, and one of the deer stands had nothing but smoke grenades and flares in it.
Oh, and I accidentally dropped my hatchet.

M1014 in backpack, AK in backpack, AKS Kobra equipped.
