RE Frost: caught that one, yes. That fucking sucks. Hopefully, it'll be sorted out soon, and if he does it right he won't be inconvenienced anymore, at least long enough to get his certificate or whatever it's called over there that says you validated basics.

By the way frost, have you already chosen a specialization ? If yes, what is it, if I may ask ?

Yep. Not sure how things work over there, but the US Army has you pick your specialization (within the limits of your qualifications) when you initially enlist, which is anywhere from weeks to months before you actually ship off to Basic.

Me, I'm regular ol' 11B, Infantry. My pay isn't the best and my job prospects after the Army are shit, but A.) I spend the next three years (at least) either shooting people in the face or training to do the same, and B.) I get to look down on all the POGs of the world and feel assured of my own superiority. And that's really what matters at the end of the day, I suppose--lording myself over others.

Same thing here. You choose your spe' when filling the pre-enlistment paperwork, for them to know what to test you for at the initial selection phase.
