They are the ninjas my princess has told you about, and yes, they are both. It takes a great swordsman to beat one in combat.

"Well, Shinigami, sounds a lot more intimidatin' then ninjas, in my opinion. Other then bein' master swordsmen, is there any other kind skills or anythin' else we should be worried about? I mean if they're just close range that seems like it would put them at a disadvantage, against someone with a firearm."

*Shakes his head* Not many Shinigami use firearms, but not many need to. They can move quicker than you think, some even faster than a bullet. And tell your friend he has no need to hide. I have found those better at going unnoticed than him.

Properly done, the spirits shall keep the body from withstanding any long-term damage, although I doubt the Empress teaches such techniques anymore, she is so determined for war.
