To answer Necro's question the only books that are ID'd are age books not linking books. The only way to get names to display is to modify linking books.

Cool. Unless Mystcraft has updated so that problem won't happen, though, then I'll probably need you to break one of the portals for me once the server is updated.

You were having end of stream issues, making Mystcraft worlds is bad for the server period as they are loaded into active memory until someone executes a save or a restart. The server does this every so often as you modify chunks but if your doing nothing but porting around it fills up the memory and kaput.

Server is up and updated to 1.08 and let me just say it's good to see that they changed the naming of mods after each update so I have to go back through and combine duplicates.

The launcher has updated to version 1.09 as this does not impact the server feel free to update. 1.08 to 1.09 is client side only.

So again, updating to 1.09 is fine, it works.

I actually remember it being more complex than it is now, but it's still fairly easy if you actually know what you're doing. I do suppose there's more parts to facilitate mad science, though.

More bad packet ID. It's the linkbooks that are causing it.

Or maybe not. I think it's just a temporary, fickle fix. If I continue to use linking books (Or Nether/Twilight Forest portals), it happens again.

That "tempory fix" basically just amounted to me opening my following linking book and using it in the few seconds after logging on and before the game crashes. The result is me being stuck in the Nether, since using a linking book again would cause another bad packet error. So, I tried using the Nether portal. Another bad packet ID error occurred, but now I can't use the temporary fix and just play in the Nether either. So yeah, the server is down.

So linking books equal server crashing....
Man and I was getting used to that.
We need to test if the alternative crystal based portals will cause the same issue as a temporary work around.

I think it's just linking book overuse that causes crashing. Of course, that's basically the definition of the Nexus. Hopefully that will be fixed for the full release of FTB, but who knows when that will be? It is worth noting that the Nexus is kinda overpowered. We should also do something about dense ore worlds (even though the damage has pretty much already been done, in that regard).

As far as crystal portals go, I think they work exactly the same as linking books, just in one way portal form.

EDIT:
Also, Thaumcraft 3 IS OUT but is not part of the main FTB pack as of yet, since that is still the old beta version.
