Tears fell down the stallion's face as he sang softly to himself, comforting himself despite what he was about to do.

Mira sighed and looked around before putting the sleeping foals in a little bag and put it over her shoulders. She walked outside and looked around for someone.

She shook her head. "No." She looked around for another moment, then turned to Searchlight again. "Have you seen Charcoal?"

Searchlight looked in the direction that Charcoal walked, then looked back at Mirabelle. "I know which direction he went in." He said as he pointed in down the road that Charcoal went. "Don't know where to though. Do you plan on looking for him?" He asked.

She nodded sadly. "I need to talk to him." She trotted down the road Searchlight had pointed, listening and looking around for any sign of Charcoal.

Charcoal cried in anguish as he fired the pistol at the wall. "I...I have to do this. I...I...I have to for their sake," he whimpered through choked sobs.

[PER9] Mira's ears perked at the sound of a gunshot. She pressed herself to the side of the street, trying to hide among the buildings as she trotted to where she heard the shot. The mare took a deep breath and peeked into the window, sighing with relief that it wasn't a raider or slaver. "Charcoal?" she asked quietly.

"Nononononono Miri...you...you shouldn't be here," The stallion said in a panic, his right eye puffy and red from tears. "You...you shouldn't be here."

Mirabelle trotted through the door and over to Charcoal. "Why? What were you doing?" she asked shakily as her eyes glassed over.

"I...I...I-" Charcoal stammered. He then broke down and fell to the ground, sobbing in his shame and self hatred. Hating himself for what he had tried to do.

Mira frowned and set the foals off to the side, but carried Dinner Bell over to Charcoal and lay down beside him. "Charcoal..."

Miri shook her head and kissed Charcoal softly on the cheek. "I'm sorry for getting mad, you did what you thought was right, and I can't blame you for that," she told him quietly. "You protected me and my... our, baby, and I can't thank you enough for that."

"Miri...I...okay. Just...promise me you won't leave me," Charcoal begged.

"I promise," she assured him with a soft kiss.

"What...what are we going to do with the other foals? We can't abandon them," Charcoal said softly after a moment of silence.

"I don't know," she answered quietly.

"We need to find them a home. I...I don't think I am ready for two more foals."

"I don't know," she said sadly. "They killed the sitter in the daycare before I could..." she sniffed and looked at the foals. "They didn't kill the babies though. I didn't let them."
