New art style critique

I would like some critique on this new style for me drawing ponies. If it's approved, I'll be drawing this way from now on. It takes a little longer than my freehand method, but if it looks better I'm willing to change. Also, I'm looking for someone to colour in my work. I just want to throw that out there. It apparently looks better if it's coloured and I can't colour for the life of me. So, if you want to do some colour work, PM me and show me your colouring skills with the drawing in this topic.

This is my OC in his teen years. I wanted to experiment with him a bit more.

Thank you. I'm drawing up myself a few reference sheets so I can use the style all the time. Freehand is easy, but I guess it takes skill to use guided lines.

I don't even know what guided lines is :P

Circles and lines that you draw around to create the image. It's hard to explain.

Ah...ya I just freehand it (poorly), adding more shapes and having to erase things would probably confuse me

It's why I have to get a pen and draw over the parts I need to stay, then erase the entire thing, leaving the pen behind.

Ahhh, see i would've spent forever trying to erase little parts and leave behind what I need lol

I would do if it wasn't for me being older than the age I would do that. No offence towards you. I just used to do that a lot until I figured out the easier method.

Well here's a good trick that I used a lot. If you can't create your own style, but want to be good at drawing anyway, look at other people's work and create reference sheets of their styles and mix them together to create your own style of pony. It's what I did for Octavia, because I think she deserves her own unique look.
