S5 Episode 03 - Castle Sweet Castle [Discussion]

Alright everyone, what are your thoughts on this episode.

I thought it was nice that they had an episode dedicated to the new castle. It would have been a shame to just forget the Golden Oaks library considering how significant it was. While I wasn't a big fan of the plot (really the rest of the cast spent all of their time decorating one room? That and only for themselves without one thought to what Twilight would want. It's a season one mistake in a season five episode) there were a lot of little moments I really liked.

Spike was treated as a character and with dignity for the first time in a long while. I really didn't like all those episodes where he was treated as a joke with legs. The Spike Rarity dynamic is back after being ignored for the longest time which is always nice. The writing for Fluttershy captured her growth while not being over the top. Yeah she was still soft spoken, but she just didn't take things lying down. She got snarky with Pinkie instead of apologizing and she tried get Twilight to leave her home instead of just accepting it. Pinkie's humor has gotten a lot better this season as well. She seems more like a character with personality outside of "look at all this wacky shit I do guys". 

All in all while I wasn't a fan of the plot's execution I liked the humor and the characters acted about how I have expected them to. Not a great episode, but a good episode.

True, if the writers of this episode would be writing another one sometime this season. I'll be looking forward to it when it comes ^^
