My Little Metro and other assorted Madness

Hello everypony, and welcome to my showcase thread. Or compilation thread. Or the thread where people and ponies can feel free to discuss my work and tell me how it's good or bad, and I can update people who care on what exactly I'm working on.

Primarily, this will be for my series My Little Metro, but I will also be editing this first post and adding things that may or may not come up. Fics in progress, little blurbs I decide to write, etc.

Anyway, let's get this train rolling so we can wreck it nice and good.

I do, but I can barely remember it after so long without an update. Almost couldn't believe it when it updated a few days ago, but I'll need to re-read a few chapters to remember what happened before hitting the new one.


Side note: Whisper Sun, Silent Moon is amazing and I highly recommend it to everyone here.

I've read it. It was pretty good. Not fantastic, but a good story.

@update period: Yeah, that's me too, sometimes. But sometimes I just have a freaky good memory of the last incident that occurred. Kinda weird, considering the amount of fics I've read. I was lucky enough this time around that I remembered what happened after reading the first few paragraphs of this latest chapter.

Regarding this story overall, I've never played Metro 2033, nor have I read the book. I just ran into it about a year ago because I had heard it mentioned before, and I was looking for more grimdark/post-apocalyptic fic material to read. It's a good story, though.

Goodness, I forgot this thread even existed until I got notifications of replies in it.

Well, whoever is actually reading will be pleased to know there are other stories up, apart from Metro: No Quixote Here and Unfinished. One is a comedy about Blueblood, and the other is a rule 63 fic that takes things in a... much darker direction.

My Little Metro has just updated to reach chapter 16! Hooray!

I'm keeping an eye on the FoE story you just made. Looks rather promising.

Metro Chapter 17 has been sent into EQD. Mind that the Gdocs version will no longer update.

If anyone follows my other stories, expect the next chapter of Unfinished to be completed next.

Saw the update at like 2am, almost shit myself.

Well, that ended rather well. And boy, was it satisfying to see the Warden meet his sticky end.

So now what, I wonder? How long will the Diamond Dogs remain allies? How much chaos will the prison camp be thrown into, now that the guard's been overthrown?

A more pressing question is: can Lockbox find the time to care about any of that?

One of the themes I've been trying to work with in Metro is the needs of the many and the needs of the few, and how far a pony's world extends before they're unable to feel for ponies outside that world. Lockbox's world is his friends and his tiny little hovel back in Exiperia, but he has a broad enough perspective to see that other ponies in the Metro live and die alongside him.

But talking about the many and the few: Lockbox is one of the few, and everywhere he goes he has been sacrificing a great many to get to where he needs to go. He has no illusions that he is strong enough to save the Metro - as much as he might want to. Everypony he just "freed" will likely die horribly within minutes of attaining that freedom, and he did it more to make a point about his own ideology than out of any real empathy with the other prisoners. He knows he can't single-hoofedly bring down the Republic, and just exerted his desire to make a difference, any kind of difference, in this scenario. What does he really care about? Can he find it in him to actually care about anything apart from his mission after all the horror he's seen? That's what I want people to see Lockbox struggling with.

I really, really hope people are actually seeing that.

Oh, that hasn't gone unnoticed. But I just really haven't given it much thought. I have nothing to say other than I hope he doesn't end up becoming cold-hearted in the end like the rest of the Metro by the end of his mission.

Sorry, I'm not the greatest at story speculation, usually. More often than not, I just sit back and read.
