I think the Goddess' interest with BJ may have had more with the possibility of her finding alternative ways to solve her... problem without having to resort to the Black Book, than with her hoping she could find a copy of the thing in Hoofington.

Though I have only read every chapter once and not more, and began reading PH with chapter 27, so my memory may be (is) a bit fuzzy.


Also, even early in the story BJ had started to trouble the statu-quo in the region, which may explain the Goddess' interest in her and why she'd have sent her only agent (and a disposable one in her mind) in the Hoofington area to gather informations on that "Security Mare".

I'm sorry, but it WAS in a spoiler.
And yeah, I really do need to get back out there and try to find someone willing again. I really, really don't understand how a married woman got into all that with me, though that's a lie because I know exactly what her reasons were. Still, that aside...

Why haven't I gotten laid in so long? She left me because I was feeling on the verge of being suicidal along with her infidelity (against me) making me too nervous to trust her, causing me to dive deeper into depression and pushed my trust issues further.
Then when I fell back in love with an old friend who now lives up north and planned to meet her, she simply walked off in the end after getting a car, only further making my issues worse.

Now I've cured myself from depression but I still have a massive amount of issues involving abandonment and love and I don't much feel like going to pubs / clubs just to try for a fling. Not going out on my own, anyway. All my local friends don't work shifts that mix with mine so that fucks that up too.
So yeah.
My explanation of why it's been so long without going into too much detail there.
