Ways that would fit the theme of the show so far and set the stage for a 13/26-episodes fourth season ?

Keeping friendships strong over distance; dealing with changes to yourself and worrying that your friends won't accept them; accepting changes in a friend; balancing personal responsibilities with the responsibility to be a good friend; learning that sometimes people like to solve their own problems, and respecting that. That's ~4 episodes, more with a two parter, all completely Twilight-focused; if each of the other Mane 6 have a similar number, we'd end up with 24, and with 2 Spike/other episodes, that's a 26-episode season. The biggest difficulty would be a slightly greater emphasis on continuity than in previous seasons, I suppose. This is all assuming that the change is even permanent, of course, which it might not be.

Today, I witnessed an event that will possibly never be seen by humankind again, maybe it has never been seen before.
What I witnessed today was a revelation beyond any that I have been able to understand in my lifetime.
What I witnessed today... well... let me tell you.

What I witnessed today was two birds, both seagulls. Sound strange? It
shouldn't, they're common. However, today was the day that this would
all change for me.
Today, I saw two, one chasing the other, squwarking as it did so. Again, nothing new here, right? Read on...
While one was being chased, the other wouldn't shut up. They barrel rolled, looped the loop and flew straight.
Then, in a moment of utter brilliance... it happened.

The bird that was being chased pulled off another loop the loop,
quickly followed by the chaser. However, just as the first bird came out
of the loop the loop, it flew straight up... and took a shit.
Yes. This bird took a shit, mid flight.

Can anyone guess what happened to this shit?

You got it. It hit the other bird whom was chasing it, straight in the face.
This bird then proceeded to fall down and immediately shut up, having been shat all over.

The chase was over. The bird had shit on another bird, mid-air.

I had witnessed something beyond that of comprehension by most people. I
had witnessed an event that is not just once in a lifetime, it is once
in a universe.
And those birds had chosen me to share that most precious, unique moment to share it with.
Oh, how I am privileged to have been in attendance at such a moment.
