Alright, so I'm watching Ridiculousness, and on comes an add for "Teen Mom", where this one particular makeup-crusted rag was talking about how she's 19 and about to have her third child.
How many bastard children do you have to eject from your genitalia before you rethink your current course of action, woman?

Anyone here carry concealed? If you do, don't buy Hi-Point. They're terrible, putrid weapons. Only thing they're good for is practice at clearing jams and misfires.

Knives set up similar to fencing foils, that sense touches but are, themselves, blunt. Unlike fencing, the fighters can choose the style and type of knife.

After pulling Frost into a small debate about gatling-style weaponry, we came to the conclusion that Equestrian gatling weapons (admittedly the only one that we have seen is the 'minigun') were designed more for the cooling system rather than their rate of fire. They were apparently tuned down to machine gun-level of RPM. Think about it. A minigun fires several thousand rounds per minute, yet Steel Rangers occasionally carry them. If it were a real minigun then the user would be out of ammo in under a minute, a little more if using burst fire. It's more like a tuned-down Microgun (Look it up).

The odd commission paid for, friends, the odd commission paid for. Haha.

Waves did the first two pieces, which was Crimson standing alone and Crimson giving out "mercy".
Commissioned the bedroom scene (SFW) from someone.
A friend of mine then drew me two different pictures, one with Crimson & Cherished Chance cuddling then of Crimson & Cherry cuddling. I paid for the second one but that was only because I'd wanted to give him something back for all of his effort, not because he asked for it.
After that, someone needed the money for nothing in particular so I commissioned them since I love their art style and got the whole Crimson & Cherry kissing picture which is my avatar, soon followed by the same person's cat becoming ill and them needing money to take her to the vet, so that's where the alicorn picture came from.
I commissioned the Crimson / bear picture during someone doing a sale to meet rent
I've now got a friend doing me a picture for free because they wanted to and they're considering doing more for my story specifically.

It's mostly about who you know, really.

Again, like I say - some of them have been for free.
Waves did the pictures for me because he's awesome and I've always been there for him, as well as the fact that he's just awesome and I asked nicely.

Strider did the pictures for me because he's pure awesome and he was being a good friend. When he heard about my story he offered to do some drawing, as a friend.

VII is doing a drawing for me for free because I asked very nicely and because he's interested in all the arts, not just drawing. He's not a writer but he does like reading, so that's why he's possibly doing even more work for me.
As well as that, I've promised to give his Tumblr a signal boost once it's got going.
--It's a ask along story blog with reader interaction, so we're both hoping that my signal boost helps a tiny bit as well as my writing ability helping him with storyline.

Continuing on the discussion of cybernetics.

The sad reality of the whole "it could result in a two tiered society" is that we are already living in a two tiered society. Remember the "Occupy Wallstreet" movement that fizzled? The top 1% are already earning on average over 200 times as much hourly as the average american as well as 40% of the nation's wealth is concentrated in the top 1%. Let me put it into perspective, if the CEO's for walmart took even the slimmest of income cuts the company could afford insurance for all their workers.


The reason why people like me want cybernetics and scifi stuff is when it does cyborgs will be the new higher tier. Sure the wealthy will be able to afford it first, but like the ten Lamborghini sitting in their garages they will not realize what they are buying could shatter our current system of preying upon the poor for cheap labour until it has already begun. It will not be a revolution against the man, it will be a revolution by the man in power's stupidity driven by their lust to live forever and their lust to maintain control forever and their lust to have power for all eternity. However like holding a serpent in their hands they do not know that it does not care who created it and that those who hold it not by the neck will be bitten.

Cybernetics are not the end all answer to everything because of it's potential, it is because those who lust after it for their greed and desire to be immortal are doing so out of stupidity and know not that it is the biggest threat to their power in the first place. It is like the atom bomb, had the americans known what it would become and known it could be used against them and known enemy nations would develop it as a political stalemate tool to stop nations from attacking them they would have buried it in the deepest hole on earth and killed anyone who asked about it.

The fact that is cybernetics could be very dangerous, but the good news is the people who are clawing for the promise of immortality are the same ones who are too stupid to comprehend they are wanting to bring about the same technology that can destroy their grasp on power.

@Writing a "Cyborgs in PH" Essay
Ha, not so well, unfortunately; I did inquire, and the professor (after some mental debate) decided that it would be limited to published fiction only (these were supposed to be used by future students and herself for readings and the like, IIRC). I think I ended up doing something on A Game of Thrones and how fantasy (and George RR Martin) treat consciousness and whatnot. I think I said something about most portrayals of magic necessitating something not unlike the soul. It was fun.

The technology of cybernetics has been swishing around in our heads ever since we figured out how to work tools. (got a bone club you've figured out how to swing real well? You're a cyborg! [the phrase "the sword should be part of your arm" is much more literal than one might think!]) In a lot of ways, it's only our tools and how we interface with them that are advancing, this latter being where the really exciting stuff happens, cybernetically speaking. Of course, the problem of how much our default hardware will be strained by all this new stuff is interesting (and has already been tackled in plenty of SF). PH may not speculate correctly about all the problems, mental and physical, that could come with replacing body parts and the like (and some can be hoofwaved with magic and advanced technology, which is fair), but Somber is right that these problems will exist, and will almost certainly be, well, problematic.

@Cybernetics as Revolution
I worry that part of the problem with cybernetics and other massive-quality-of-life-adjusting devices and the like is that the people in power are quite aware that their power only exists in terms of their having more of it than everyone else, and will work to ensure that this gap remains large, or grows. This may be my inner anarchist talking, though, since I did just watch the recent version of Les Mis. ("Red, the blood of angry men! Black, the dark of ages past!" Just sayin'.)
