EIB train-up is going great.
"Why don't you fuckers have compasses?"
Blame either the unit or your damn selves. Tell me to spend my personal money for an Army-required task and I'ma start selling state secrets so I can become a woman in prison. Fuck you."
"Why don't you have whistles for this land nav course?"
A.) See above
B.) What? Why do I need a fucking whistle? Do you expect a serial issue of dudes getting buttraped out on the lane? It's 'in case we get lost'? In that case, 1.) Let the fucker be lost. We don't need him. He can stay out there. 2.) You've threatened us that, if we have cell phones out on the course, we will be caught, dropped from EIB, and put in for article 15's. If we will be caught being on our phones for ten seconds to cheat, doesn't that mean we will be seen at some point as we wonder around lost for four hours?
Of course, what am I thinking; expecting common sense from the people who expect us to clear, load, operate, correct malfunction, re-engage, unload and re-clear a .50 cal. in less than 30 seconds. For reference, the MK 19, a marginally (if that) more complicated weapon, has the same task standards to be completed within 60 seconds.

That was funny.
Although... um... that's kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel? Or is Leoric some kind of a fan favorite character, even though he was just one of the bosses (like, I think he wasn't even guaranteed to show up) in Diablo 1?

He was the first boss of the first act in Diablo 3. He's the new hero because they have a Diablo event going on right now.

Apparently, Duffelblog hit way, way too close to the mark this time--Marines are now being 'discouraged' from wearing their uniforms out and about.
That's a great message we're sending to the world--American servicemen attacked on American soil and the orders are to fucking hide in response.

No idea, hard to say how Blizz even picks heroes. On one hand fan favorites like Arthas, Sylvanas and Illidan are in the game on the other there are characters like Murky, Sgt. Hammer and Gazlowe.
Murky to the best of my knowledge is only a reoccuring vanity pet given out during Blizzcon.
Gazlowe is the boss of Rachet, a not very notable town in WoW.
And Sgt.Hammer well she doesn't seem to exist outside of Heroes of the storm.
If I were to guess it's a mixed bag of popular heroes and playstyles that blizz comes up with and then at a later date are given to matching heroes.

So, Sweden says that religion (or worse, race) gives you the right to actually assault people for their sexuality, while Scotland says that the people who had a big hand in getting homosexuals (and other people who break out of traditional gender norms) accepted are now banned from the events they helped make possible.
You know, When I was young--eight or so, maybe--I remember seeing and hearing a lot in school, on TV, from my parents and from elsewhere that people should be allowed to be themselves and shouldn't have to worry about what other people think; that it's wrong to try and force other people to be like you or harass them for being different. The world would be an interesting place if people actually held up that ideal.

To be fair, the LGBT+ movement's internal politics have always been a mess, as it is in the end only an umbrella term and the different identities said umbrella covers have different experiences and need

Division and alienation, man. Standard tools for any politics of hate.
EDIT: I got tired of typing on a laptop built-in keyboard and dug out a truly ancient keyboard from the basement. Getting used to a new keyboard is weird enough without buttons that I think were designed for interfacing with, like, Windows 98.

Kind of like how Anita Sarkeesian wasn't even happy with Perturbed Maxwell: Agitated Conveyance. More critical than she is of most films, in fact. When she starts criticizing films that have received near-universal praise for their treatment of female characters, people have to be realizing that she's just doing her "activism" for attention and money, I hope. It's been pointed out repeatedly that she doesn't seem to (and openly admits in some cases) not actually play the video games she criticizes, either.Overlong Analysis Cobalt wrote:@Frost

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I've found two new anime I rather like.
The first is Triage X.
Shameless cheesecake and violence wrapped up in some rather good animation.
The other is GATE.
A fascinating concept [modern military VS fantasy world. Guess who's winning!] but a bit early to know anything for certain.

New episodes come out every Friday. Episode 4 is due today (0426 local hour at time of writing). Don't know if subs are going to be up by the end of today.
Although considering Japan is something like 9 hours ahead of France and 15 hours ahead of the US' East Coast, that could be possible.

I tried reading the manga for GATE and it just got stupid fast, I probably went in with the wrong expectations though. Apparently the anime is really censored both in gore and will be for the 'adult themes' to come.Tytan wrote:The other is GATE.

Shows I'm watching from this season are Rokka no Usha (six chosen ones fight a demon god in a mesoamerican styled setting), Gakkou Gurashi! (think Madoka Magica but with school SOLs, go in blind, it's so worth it), Ushio no Tora (90's anime made with modern tech), and Shimoneta (fighting government censorship with dirty jokes/lewdness!)

Well, at least so far it's better than The Salvation War. Though that may be damning with faint praises? :vStringtheory wrote:I tried reading the manga for GATE and it just got stupid fast, I probably went in with the wrong expectations though. Shimoneta is good so far. Not bad, at the very least. Eh, I actually liked Salvation War despite it being basically an excuse for weapon porn, still wasn't very good I'll give you that. I don't know why I don't like GATE, probably the lack of realism or something.Harmony Ltd. wrote:Well, at least so far it's better than The Salvation War. I highly recommend Gakkou Gurashi! if you like psychological shows, make sure you watch the entire first episode before dropping it.

Okay, I will give you that there's a certain amount of things that don't make sense, like America waiting like badguys for Japan to fuck up so we can swoop in an claim fantasylandia for ourselves, but when you're going into an anime expecting realism when the poster looks like THIS...

Eh, it's not the lack of 'realism', that really turned me off. It was other stuff like how the story was being told, I can't really put it into words.Tytan wrote:Stringtheory wrote:I don't know why I don't like GATE, probably the lack of realism or something.

Despite my initial expectations,
While I'd normally advise letting sleeping dogs lie and coming up with a new IP (especially if it's moving settings entirely) the Mass Effect universe still has a shitton of potential and, given how good the bulk of the content was, it's going to be a good thing to not let the end of 3 be the series' legacy.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
While we're talking about games, I just warched the gameplay presentation of Heart of Iron 4, and I have to say I am a bit hyped.
I mean, the game seems likes this time it'll be enjoyable to play, without its depth suffering from it.
If anything, the military planning tool by itself (allowing to let the IA handle your war plans without the previous need to micromanage your units) is a pretty big selling point.
