Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
I'm posting this as a thread to talk about my new unofficial sequel to FOE, Fallout Equestria: Armed Redemption. The basics are that it takes 50 years after the events of Fallout:Equestria. Inspiration primarily comes from FOE:Project Horizons, the story is so different and darker than the original story that I decided to do something similar. The main cast of my fic is the complete opposite of the crew from either story, in that they go from hardened mercenaries who revel in war to being more kind and equine (humane). The story itself tries to stay true to what has been established as canon in the original Fallout Equestria, but it also changes things dramaticaly in part because of the 50 year time gap. Chapters will be published when I can write them. Any feedback is welcome.

Only read the prologue thus far, as mentioned on FF, but if you do this right it has potential.
Just gotta make sure you give it a good storyline and really develop your characters and it should be good.

Someone mentioned the fact that my mane cast seems overpowered. That is just it, they SEEM overpowered. The Gendarmes have proper combat training and coordination but they slightly fall into the category of Glass Cannons. They are better off at planned, methodical approaches rather than bull-rushing it like Blackjack and her lot. They are kinda the reverse of that group. Just dispelling some possible fears of the story being la-di-da with no challenges. -LK

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
I wouldn't say that they're overpowered... but Stringtheory (IIRC) did have a point with putting them up against equal or stronger opponents.
They're a merc group - they're going to be trained well and you've given them decent equipment, so make sure they go against opponents that suit their level.
You wouldn't send a level 1 fallout character against a deathclaw, so don't do that with your characters [haven't read chap 1 yet, but just saying]...
As long as you make the opponents something of a fight -- unless you're going for an easy fight to build them up as combatants, which isn't necessary since the story already tells you they are highly trained.
In my story, the MC gets away with some pretty weak opponents and has some high advantage bonus' when the opponents aren't weak - to begin with.
However, once he's had enough time to familiarise himself with armed combat properly past firearms training, I throw him against some opponents that begin to kick his ass (admittedly, this was after being told of my flaw - but it still works out well in that sense.)
You just have to make it so they don't cakewalk the wasteland, basically.

The next few chapters is where the fun starts and where I start being a complete asshat to the Gendarmes, as I have planned for a few weeks.

FAIL. Ahem, anyway, it will be drastically different than what you expect. Prancinnati is in what would be real-world Ontario Province of Canada, and somewhere around 500 miles from Stable 2. There, spolierless spoiler.

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
At the risk of spoilers, I need some feedback. One of the primary enemies of the story are the Trottomans (a little like the Legion) who constantly threaten Prancinnati. This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntVtN3g6ERM) song accompanies them via alicorns who magically broadcast the sound. The song is eventually supposed to become fearsome given what it follows. Thoughts?

I have news everypony. Chapter 2 of Armed Redemption should be released by the end of the month. I'd like to thank Mister Frost for being my editor and co-author, especially since he picks up my work whenever I'm unable to. This story will be a long road to walk, but it will be worth it in the end and I hope to make it enjoyable for everypony.

I might have to start reading this in my spare time, should be interesting to see it developed, even though I've never played WH 40K.

Would you believe me if I said that what prompted me to start writing was Medieval 2:Total War? I take some elements from WH 40K because it's so huge that it's relevant to everything and does it well. The story is a throwback to Fallout 1 to Tactics in the way it's comical yet dark and serious. Another inspiration is The Expendables series of movies.

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
-YaY Sonar young and funny character I like him.
-Look, how many time passed after DoSaR? You must mention it in story.
-Stories after FoE's events have two possibly awesome moments: 1. Ponies can eat green. (shame we do not see it in postFoE stories, because not enough time passed, or it's to far away from central equestria and soil still not so good, or just because autors too stupid to write it) 2. Alicorns! Would be awesome to have one. However, AR already have awesome character (Armatus). But it's never enough.
-Keep up good story.

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
Crap. I had it in the old story description and forget about that. I changed the description to make it less TL;DR. Thanks for pointing that out, it's 50 years after the end of FoE.
The ponies can actually eat green in Prancinnati, the city wasn't exposed to the bombs so no radiation or taint.
There are a few Alicorns in the story, one of them is even in the group. But I won't say who. Muahahaha...hahahaa.HAHAHAHAHAHA

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
There are some scaling issues. Armatus is very tall compared to a pony but not absurdly huge. The artist has some trouble scaling things properly, and as a former artist I know how that is. Grimm gets his point across however.

Re: Fallout Equestria:Armed Redemption
My ideas for Germaney that I had discussed with you earlier. Just some things I through together. Use all, none, or some of them I don't care what you do with em.
- Spoiler:
-Germaney was founded by refugees (Mostly unicorn and earth ponies) that fled north from equestria during nightmare moon's rebellion.
-While Germaney is legally independent to equestria, it is highly influenced by Equestria due to it's economic and political ties to it.
-Germaney has always maintained a fairly large military
-Due to few pegasi and the lack of an aristocracy among unicorns, Unicorns and Earth Ponies are distinctly similar. In contrast to full blooded Equestrians. Unicorns are typically far larger and more muscular than an Equestrian Unicorn. On the other end, a large number of Germaneian Earth Ponies have a greater control over their unconscious magics than an Equestrian Earth Pony. This also has drawbacks as Germaneian Unicorns have a smaller magic pool and often have little in the way of spellcraft and the typical Germanian Earth Pony has to put earnest focus in their work to activate their normally innate magics.
-Because of Germanian Unicorns lacking the power of their equestrian counterparts, they have been the pioneers of precise telekinesis, As such Germane is known less for it's breakthroughs in the Magical Sciences and more for the intricate machines and inventions they have made, as well as their painters, sculptors, and musicians.
-Because of it's proximity and history of both trade and warfare with the Griffon kingdoms, Germaney boasted some of the highest numbers of Griffons outside of their own Kingdom
-Many Germanians have a distrust of pegasi and a few cross over into full on racism. Germanian Unicorns also find much of their Equestrian counterparts to be stuffy preferring the company of Earth Ponies. These stereotypes have only gotten worse after the war. Especially with Pegasi due to the Enclave.
-In the early days of the war Germaney was one of the major suppliers of weapons to Equestria. Unlike the Griffons, Germany only sold to Equestria out of both Loyalty and fear.
-However this soon stopped. As, while most arms from Germaney were indeed superior to the standard equestrian gun or armor in terms of firepower, weight, and protection. Due to the intricate nature of the guns that made it difficult for field repairs, greater cost to make, specialized ammo necessary and difficulty to mass produce, the Equestrian military buying from them, in favor of standardized weaponry. Germaneian Guns still remain popular however, mostly among mercenary groups, Germaney's own forces, and a handful of Equestrian Special forces.
-While Germaney was technically not at war with the Zebras. Germaneian volunteer divisions served under Equestrian forces. Because of this as well as the weapon trade, Germaney was hit by the zebras almost as Equestria. However, due to the strikes on Equestria happening far earlier than there, they had an early warning to the incoming attacks, giving time to save a large number of it's population from the initial attacks. Many hiding in the old stone castles and forts that had not been targeted. Ironically the fazed out building served the purpose of protecting the population inside better than the overdisigned high tech stables.
