Dwarf Fortress! Losing is !!FUN!!

Dwarf Fortress is a game made by Tarn Addams, IE: Toady One. It is top down, 2d flat cut out of a map. Imagine if you will layers of graph paper stacked on top of each other. The point of the game is none, there is no way to "win" DF, but there are a million ways to lose. In DF, you have no direct control over anything, but instead make orders, like stronghold or dungeon keeper 2. Every Dwarf has his or her own personality, likes and dislikes, looks, gods, any numerous other things about them. DF simulates things to a level unheard of in most other games, right down to the temperture of each tile, creature's body part, and piece of anything. Not to mention the combat of DF, it is incredibly detailed. Every body part of a creature is simulated, and every weapon can be used in a different way, let's just say it's one of the best combat systems in any game. The main "goals" of DF, even though there are none, is to have your fort survive. you'll need to set up food production, booze production (dwarves need booze), and soon after carve a home into the hillside.
The main reason why I bring it up, is there is an amazing mod someone (Nidoking over there I think) that adds replaces the main game stuff with things from equestria. Ponies, with Pegusi, Unicorns, and earth ponies? yep. Zebras? yep. Buffalo? yep. Griffons? yep. evil ponies? yep. it adds a lot.

this might be better suited to those who know the game though, for, it's not for the faint of heart. (learning curve? HA! it's a learning cliff, that loops.)

I think I'll do some sort of story game (where I just post what's going on, and let people claim ponies as their own). So far, just mention if you want to be a pony. WARNING! DF is violent, and your pony might die at some point. bad things happen in DF.
The world will be my own mix of the mod's earlier version, with a normal DF game. in a world where the elves, humans, goblins, and dwarves, live alongside Ponies. There are 7 ponies at start, I can not garentee a certain mix, but if say, someone wants to be a unicorn, but there are none at first, we'll get some in the first migrant wave, so claim whatever.
Oh yeah, there are royal ponies, very rare. If you want one of those, you'll have to skip getting a regular pony and when one comes I'll hold a drawing. (oh, and since they are so big, they are great in the army )

I have a very nice fortress with an adamantine plated Hall with Raritys cutie mark imprinted on the floor with gold, a long twisting corridor of death (10 drawbridges) for sieges, mines that go deep deep deep to all the adamantine (no FUN yet though...), an awesome adamantine-clad squad of killers, and way too many dwarves for this to keep going well...

Also tilesets are for pussies. If you can't read the ascii you are not worthy of Armok!

Well I think there is a real beauty to ascii.
But these sorts of misunderstandings might happen, yes :D But who cares, those were just elves! You don't need them (except if you're in a biome with no wood of course)
