Also also, court cases are apparently in motion (and looking favorable) to repeal the Hughes Amendment. If passed, this would re-open the NFA registry for (legal definition) machine guns. Then, as now, a 200 tax stamp and a background check would be all that's required to buy a machine gun. Then, unlike now, you could buy a newly-manufactured one rather than one of the increasingly rare and worn ones that were on the registry before it closed in 1986

Just walked in on my spouse watching some of the latest Dr. Who.
The Doctor was going to use this memory-eraser remote control on his companion, Clara.
Clara then stated she reversed its polarity, then asked what that did, and the Doctor said he didn't know.
Then he pushed it, anyway.
This show is so silly...

@Frost: Well, you have to be a Sergent (nato OR-5) for between 5 to 10 years (after which you automatically move up in rank due to your seniority) to become a Sergent-Chef (nato OR-6).

I've been a Sergent for a little over a year now, and the average is 6 to 8 years of Sergent to move up in ranks.

So, yeah. It's possible that might happen.

Unless I become a flight engineer. Then I'm going to go up in ranks like crazy.

I still have to wonder what the point of your low-level NCO ranks is. All of our NCO's are leadership positions. Using it as a glorified Private/Specialist rank just strikes me as kinda dumb.

Nope. Apparently it manages to locally alter the albedo of air so that it reflects laser. It's all explained in the kickstarter.

As for how exactly they do that... If I had to guess, I would hypothesize that they are using an array of ultrasonic emitters kind of like in the same way as a phased array radar, in order to achieve that change in albedo.

@Frost: Like I said earlier, among other reasons (one of which being that we don't function the same way) it's because we have far less people in our armed forces. Considering the number of people who leave the armed forces after only one contract, if we didn't recruit people directly at the NCO level, we would be suffering a chronic and dramatic shortage of NCOs

What's the point of having that many NCO's if there's no one for them to be leading, then? If they're functionally privates, why pay and rank them as NCO's?

Qualification level.

We're already paid less than civilian with similar qualifications, by a good margin. If were paid even less, we wouldn't even be able to recruit enough people to keep our numbers.

My point is that if you're essentially just privates, why not just get called privates? You can pay your privates as much as you want. Having NCOs for the sake of having NCOs, even if they're not in charge of anything and doing no actual NCO duties, seems really dumb.

For people who know guns: what's the wood/plastic under the barrel before it extends out called (or just general 'extra' bulk on the gun in general?) The body? I've heard the term 'cowling' used, but apparently that's more for cars and airplanes.

It kind of depends on the gun, but I generally call any wood or plastic in that general area the grip. Again depending on the gun it could also be called the forestock.

Unless of course I'm not understanding which bit you're talking about.

Baroness has been posting mini making-of videos of their new album with the new lineup (following half the band being taken out of commission after a touring accident). Yesterday, I didn't even know the album's name (it's "Purple") - now, it's on my friggin' radar. Pretty stoked. The new drummer looks great.

Here's an actual song off it - Chlorine and Wine.

I heard this great story the other night.

A critic I like to listen to volunteers for a Halloween 'scary walk' in the woods for kids. They have to hide in the woods then scare the kids.

Like, one year he dressed up like the Dos Equis guy and said to the kids, "Stay thirsty my friends."

Another year him and a friend just jumped out, but they were drunk and his friend fell down a slope when they jumped out, and he said to the kids, "Don't worry children, he's dead."

But I lost my shit when he told his favorite story. One year all he did was wear a bird mask and hide behind a tree. When a group of kids came along he stuck his head out and said, "Hey, got any bird seed?" It just so happen one little girl was deathly afraid of birds and started screaming.

Post by Kattlarv on Fri Dec 11, 2015 12:19 pm

Huh, only 1 page in 10+ days. This thread has indeed slowed down.
For better or worse I guess :P

@Frost: Yeah, gee. Ain't like a majority of the R34 fandom flip their shit as soon as one thing is out of place in their demanded world order, yet act like it's raining whenever it's pointed out xP
And it's honestly both hilarious and sad how true that statement is x3

As for "what I think", I interviewed a number of guys that drew gore+rape art. And the latest one, that drew Big Mac+"friends" raping and abusing the CMC explained that they "saw no issue with that, it was just art". And when asked if they'd be able to draw the opposite. They loudly objected. As then it would be pedophilia. "Wrong". And most importantly: They would be able to relate to it. Making it highly uncomfortable to draw. But apparently as long as the rapist were male, "so they had a reason to rape", then it was all fine. "Because that's how things are". So you tell me what I think when I quirk a brow to a reply like that.

@Tytan: I was referring to episode references, and "out of the ordinary" content. And lo and behold: So far I've only seen Sombra rapedungeons and R63 NMM and Chrys rapedungeons. Oh gee, not like I predicted that in any way xP After all, this is only the fandom where a blatant lesbian threesome reference in an episode flew over everyone's head, because they couldn't figure out where the penis reference was in that episode x3

Also: Is your avatar by that incompetent hack artist? Or does it just strike an uncanny resemblance of their style+what they usually draw?
My bad if it isn't, but it's really similar looking.

As for 75 % lesbian: Well, if just going by ex: E621 alone. Lesbian got 77 pages, And we can safely remove at least 7 of those as incorrectly tagged. Or in the "has more than one female fellating a male" category. Straight has 147 pages alone. And gay comes last with 27 pages. So yeah, you seem to be really accurate so far :D The lesbian tag on derpi has 34067 atm. (And here we can remove at least 15 % again) And straight has 41811. And gay last again in 8005. Next time, do me a favor and don't embarrass yourself this badly without fact checking ;P And atop that, I can point out the fact that there's 0 large folios (30+) that's focused on females. For a fandom based around female ponies, it's pretty stupid how there's not been a single major project folio released, that hasn't been about males or dicks. There's been a few smaller ones though. So that's not as pathetic.

@Valikdu: That's actually what I find the most hilarious about this fandom. All the people that goes "Nobody cares about that!" and, yet, every single time I go "Well okay then. Since you don't care, I guess you won't mind if I do the same to the males." to which, every. single. time. They have leaped into a shitstorm of "Hey! Hey! HEY! Don't you fucking DARE to touch our dicks!" which you know, is funny considering they just claimed that no-one in the entire fandom gives a shit about what anatomy you use on your ponies. And how "everyone has a right to their own preference/style". Which you know, is very odd when the same people that just claimed both of those things, can be seen yelling at someone for using a human penis on a pony. Along with someone demanding that the dominant female in a lesbian pic is "R63'rd" into a futa, "like they should" :P Face it, this fandom is to a majority just a huge heap of contradictory, hypocritical bullshit ;D This whole "It's not a problem until it directly negatively affects ME!" mentality the loud majority has is just ridiculous :P They have 0 sense of self-awareness.

@EP: I've seriously been considering playing Undertale. Despite having most of it spoiled to me. It still seems like an awesome experience.
And blah... still can't decide if I should go ½ chapters or not... I mean, that's the only parts I've been universally complimented on vastly improving. Granted, 7 people isn't the best control group... but they seem to like the changes to the Flank, rape, Styg and Glory scenes. Eh... maybe I should ask for Somber's mail and give them a poke about if they got any preference. Seems less "intrusive" at least to only iron out the major parts.
