...okay, I skimmed the first bit, so... is this just in response to my talking about North Korea, or a response to my opinions?
Because my opinion is, again, that North Korea should end. They regularly kill people. Americans and their allies.
Their own people too, of course, but that makes them more a focus for the UN. Their actions against the USA make them a focus for the USA.
I don't think such a murderer nation state should be allowed to continue. There needs to be some plan of action of the United State government's to just end them.

This is the sort of problem whose 'plan' to solve could just involve ObamaBush and Cheney getting drunk one Sunday afternoon and looking at whoever the balls Hagel's replacement isRummy to say "Hey, let's fuck North KoreaIraq up." And we all get together to fuck North KoreaIraq up in time for dinner on Monday.

Would a bacteria or parasite that reprograms a person's brain be impossible?
Like... what if, one day, people were able to program plagues like they used to early computer viruses? If they created a sickness that did nothing but spread and cause people to misidentify rats as cats?
Or convinced everyone it infected that it was inappropriate to wear shirts?
Or made everyone slur everything they said?
I've never really seen that sort of thing in media before. What if it became the norm to have implants just to perform regular "virus scans", after which we'd need to check into the nearest clinic for the irregularity to be identified and purged?
Similar to how some of the early, "harmless" viruses would sometimes lock up or fry computers, it could do the same to human brains.
I think I'd be interested in reading a story about something like that, if anyone's heard of one...

If you get to be flippant, so do I. (Edit: And let's not forget that I was agreeing with you on the relative ease of the knocking-DPRK-over part.) Whatever it takes to remember that it isn't over once the people in power have been crushed, and that what was sold as a few hundred-billion dollar expenditure (to say nothing of casualties) ended up with an on-budget cost of several times that, and interest and other indirect costs bringing it into the trillions. In terms of outcomes, we've been screwing up the follow-through too frequently for comfort in major interventions after Korea (Persian Gulf I being the biggest exception I can think of). I'm not saying that nothing should be done, but walking in, fucking shit up, and then either not having a plan for what happens afterword or just leaving isn't a great idea. And messing with something inside China's sphere of influence has costs and risks of its own.
