Finished "Revival" because I am a disgusting person that crams books into my eyes with wild abandon. It's pretty friggin' good, has a good ending. It's waaay oldschool horror, done convincingly. Loved the main character (who is, IMO, the villain rather than the narrator). Definitely worth checking out if you like King and Lovecraft both. Apparently it was written under the influence of Machen, so substitute him for HPL if you like. I've read less of him than HPL so I'm not qualified to say how the similarities hold.

EDIT: Yo. New humbledy bundle. Says I gots ta share copies of Insurgency with folks. PM for a copy. First come, first serve. I used to play Insurgency when it was a mod; dunno if it's still good, but I enjoyed it back in the day. It was like Terrorist Bridge Camping Simulator 2000 as the insurgents, and Marine Getting Shot from Past the Draw Distance Simulator 1999 for the marines. (There was a trick to doing this, using the corner of your vision to line up a shot because the old Source engine's draw distance was a box, not a circle, so you could see further out of the corners of your screen) Both were pretty fun, since actually winning as the marine side was really gratifying on the rare times you managed it (on most maps, they were at a severe disadvantage if they weren't very organized).

2x EDIT: I've also got a couple copies of Risk of Rain, which is a very fun platformer/shooter roguelike. Intense swings of power - the game can be brutally difficult or practically casual depending on your fortune with items and your mastery of your character.

Yes, Sabaton (if we're talking about same band) is awesome. I really like their songs.

Some of the other models are questionable too. Namely Miranda and Sgt. Johnson. Halo 2 isn't the freshest in my memory but Halo 3 didn't give me the impression that's what they looked like.

Or was that someone else...

I might be more intrigued if I was a beer guy. Any chance Dagon's Head or whatever brews ancient tequila?

Not really, 16th century's renaissance, not even late middle ages. 'Ancient' is usually a catch all term for pre-0 C.E./A.D. In western terms I think it 'ends' when Rome and the Western Empire fall and the early Middle Ages/The Dark Ages start.

You know what's fucking depressing? Failing a city builder not from disease or starvation, but from having all your villagers die from old age. I'm not sure what I did wrong but none of my people had any kids nor did any nomads show up.

Dogfish Head had several that were from well before the time when Jesus did his thing. Gonna grab at least two of them next time I visit a good liquor store. I'm more into whisky myself, but enjoy a good beer now and then.

Next time: Fewer lights. More jazz "mood music" clubs. Rose gardens in the park.

Turn that place into straight-up New Sodom. Ain't havin' no birth rate problems there.

That's why they weren't reproducing! They were too busy mashing up corn and creek water to sit in the butter churn for weeks at a time in an effort to get plastered.

Make sure you always have plenty of houses Early on String. That + food and firewood and you should have less trouble with birthrates. It is hard to strike that balance between too many and not enough births. Just make sure every family has at least two kids before the adults are 35.

Banished is fun but I stopped playing because it got old fast. I need more creative tools to have fun.

Huh, I don't remember ever really running out of either food or firewood, just logs and stone constantly. Maybe I just didn't have enough houses.

I like the new Gravemind. The old one looked to much like a plant. But now it looks more like what it is. Mutated. Corrupted. An impossibly large and malevolent mound of rotting putrescence.

I'll have to take a look at the other cutscenes though. On the plus side, no spoilers.

Edit: They don't look to bad. More in keeping with the Halo 4 style, but still recognizably them.

As a general rule, whenever you have extra time between making other projects and ensuring there is enough food to go around, put up houses. Also make sure to abuse the hell out of foresters if you ever are low on wood.

I disagree whole heartedly with Miranda, she I didn't know was Miranda until I noticed she was standing where Miranda was supposed to be. And I don't really think 3/5ths of a starfish is a better representation than the plant was.

Nobody's taken me up on the free Insurgency. Oh well. Giving things away is harder than I thought it would be, lol. For the record, it's quite good. Sinjar is still an unbalanced clusterfuck, the co-op additions are pretty fun, and the weird equipment customization stuff doesn't break the nature of the game. (It helps the PMC side a lot 'cos they don't have to use the crappy default ironsights now; helps the insurgents less 'cos the AK's ironsights are still open and glorious, but sticking a scope on an AK is pretty good)
