Well, so far the reviews seem good enough so I might actually buy it, but I'll probably try some torrent first anyway, just to be sure.

Just the way I like it (for the most part). Spike
And it's not really surprising, considering the multiplayer goes through Ubisoft.

Huh, according to a first impressions guy I was watching that's the most interesting part of the game.

Maybe, and eventually I'll get to it, but I like to enjoy my single-player uninterrupted. I'm old-school like that. Spike
All the big talk lately about merging single and multi-player experience and removing boundaries between the two is not really that appealing to me (especially when players are going to be punished for switching between the two).

EDIT: Also, what one might love, someone else might hate. Preferences are bitchy like that. Twilight crazy

It looked interesting, chasing one another with the same hacking powers sounds cool. The AI smashing into those blocker things I can't imagine is more satisfying than making a human player do it.

Though, I'm not really sure what those losses even mean. I really doubt it resets your character or anything like that. That just sounds stupid, resetting single player progression because you turn off the multiplayer is moronic.

Maybe that's a multiplayer rank? But that kinda hurts the multiplayer if the ranks are skill based.

But it doesn't matter, as you said to each their own and all that.

Probably one of the most unique aspects. The game also reminds me of a sort of open world Dishonored in that objectives usually have multiple ways of being obtained. Not a ton, as you don't have a lot of utility abilities, but to get to an objective you can go in with guns, "hack" your way through, cause blackouts and move in with silenced weapons, use multiple alternate entrances with explosives or distractions (including firing at civilians to get police involved) to get enemies where you want them and there are randomized attacks of opportunity available from causing feedback over coms or leading guys under forklifts.
That, there are no alternate objectives, so the story is still perfectly linear.

According to the info I found it resets 'Notoriety', which I assume equals to some multiplayer ranking system, and all skills related to Notoriety, which probably means it functions sort of like a level system unlocking new multiplayer-related skills.

That sounds like a load of bullshit from Ubisoft if true, but I haven't seen the game yet, so I can't tell for sure what it does.

Not 'resets', detracts some protion of it for failing contract...though i belive no consiquenses for been hacked. BTW it says how much you will loose, when you accept contract..not sure if it says how much victim will loose, if you succeed.

I was talking about completely turning off the online mode (then turning it back on, then off again and so on).

Well, it's easy to figure out if someone is in your game. By pressing Esc - your game doesn't sets on pause.

Sure, but sometimes I may just not want people invading my game.

Let's write it all at once instead of bits and pieces. Spike

My issue was that, according to some pre-release info, this happens everytime you turn off the online mode.
That's what bugs me and what I'm interested in finding out, hence:

Yeah, it forces you. But. If you want to play SP first - there is no consiquences, your notoriety would be 0 either way. After finishing - you can turn that on. I know it forbids you from other online activity, but that's how it works.

Well that's kinda how I figured I'd play it if that were indeed the case.

With online mode off, I would (logically) expect Notoriety to decrease over time rather than reset, but I suppose Ubisoft decided to be a dick.

Kind of a heavy handed way of forcing a multiplayer community.

Can anyone find this guy in-game and confirm whether it's legit easter-egg or just edit? Probably edit, but one never knows.

You see, it's not 'that guy' it's randomly generated stuff, you might never find this person or find few persons with same discription.

I suppose that makes sense, random generation adds diversity, not to mention making everyone manually would be lengthy.

Well, if anyone comes across someone with this description, let the thread know. Twilight crazy

So with all the issues people have had apparently with the PC version and the supposedly poor optimalization for AMD machines, I'm gonna wait with buying Watch Dogs, at least until it's all sorted out.

I'd suggest for 1-2 month. According to Ubisoft my nVidia GTS 450 is below minimal req. Yet I was able to play on medium. But after ~2 hours of play game start showing up graphical glitches, oh well. You can 'cure' it by simply restarting the game.

Yeah, I have a PC that's quite powerful, and I have to put the graphics on medium-low for it to run kinda smoothly. It doesn't stop the game from lagging during car chases and high action sequences.

So yeah, piss poor optimization.
