Completely uninstalled FTB and re-installed it as a completely clean blank slate, and it still does it.

It's the same thing it was doing with the Nether.

Hey how much Ram do you have installed?

6 GB of ram physically installed. 4 GB allocated to FTB in the option screen.

OS is Win 7 64-bit.

Tried again, it did the same thing in the same circumstances. I hear chickens for a second or two before the game crash.

Can you edit my coordinates back to spawn ? I suspect the culprit might be a chicken overload...

It works.

So as I suspected, there's simply some regions of the server that are hazardous to the stability of my game.

If this hasn't changed, the Nether isa big no-no, and it now seems that the area near the treefarm / bank is also one.

So, I inadvertently repeated the experiment :

It is indeed when I go toward the Bank that the game crash.

I crossed the bridge from the power station over the river to the over bank, toward the Bank, and the game instantly crashed.

Tried to go to the Bunker Alpha through the bank's portal room.

the game is frozen in place since at least two minutes, the last image being me crossing the portal to the Bunker Alpha as I say in the chat "Wish me luck".  

Yeah, as sad as it is, as long as I'll playing through my shitty connection, chance has it it'll never stop.

Too much ping, too few bandwidth...

I know, which is the most saddening / infuriating thing.

That fucking internet connection is a pain in the ass on a daily basis.

Statement: Somehow, with the FTB mods, I find a lot more iron and a lot less other metals (tin and copper) than I did in my previous experiences.

IIRC, copper appear only above a certain level. Concerning tin, I don't know, but it was already relatively "uncommon" lats I checked. Not rare, but appearing less frequently than either Iron or Copper, and only in tiny clusters or in single blocks.

Had to restart the server, it was showing as down and no one responded to chats

Indeed I am.  They are iron golem guardians, which kill hostile mobs.  Somberville's own defense force.  I'd say there are more like 200 of them, although I guess I should have counted.

If they are causing lag, feel free to kill them.  They were easy to make.  Positioning them around the city simply seemed like a cool idea to me.  Leave the minoshrooms though.  There are only about 20 of them, so they shouldn't be causing any issues by themselves.

I killed the ones in the cow pen, it's kind of hard to get milk when your being hunted by 10 minoshrooms.

Not sure if I'll have to axe them or not yet. Need Harmony to check for lag our canary in the lag mine.

I do have a mob grinder running.  Of course, it is self contained, and the mobs are killed as fast as they spawn.  There are never more than 20 mobs in it.  Probably closer to 15, actually.  It doesn't drop experience, and mob drops are directly collected by the machine and sent to the pipes, without even appearing in the world.  I believe the mobs technically drop nothing, and the machine simply creates what they would have dropped.  There are only 5 pipes I believe, so that shouldn't be causing too much lag.  The conveyor belts are probably causing a little lag, but not too much I don't think.

The grinder doesn't even seem laggy when I'm standing next to it.  It could be causing some problems, but that would surprise me, since the old xp grinder in the twilight forest caused considerably more lag, but I don't recall you ever needing to restart the server for that, except maybe once or twice it crashed because someone idled in front of it or something?  Regardless, my grinder seems to cause very little lag, even if it is always running.

Is lag even the problem, or is it something else?

Not seen problems lately, still trying to track that down.
Soon time to lock this and start a new thread, first post updated.

 Whenever I've been on it's been fine other than some lag issues.

We should have a good suite of things for this Thursday.

The map is hard core refusing to start and I've been busy the last week with work.  But hey someone cares so I will do my best to get 2 3 hours into working on it.
