War Thunder
I got myself hooked on War Thunder again. It's basically a dogfight/bombing MMO, with most of WW2's planes available. As you gain experience, you can upgrade your aircraft, your crew, your weapons, and buy new aircraft. It's pretty fun and the graphics are excellent. Anyone here play it?

Likewise. I'm only at rank two.

I've managed to grind to tier 5 in the Japanese tree. You don't see a lot of Jap fighters, but they're very fun to fly. I still play World of Tanks more, but this game is usually what I go to when I need a break.

Gonna resurrect this topic a bit. I've been playing this a lot lately because I'm just tired of shitfests in World of Tanks, and WarThunder Ground Forces will be coming out soon, so I'll be looking into that anyway. Anyone else play?

I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about. I was still using tier 1 level craft. I definitely have tier 2 craft now, though.RoboRed wrote:Likewise. I'm only at rank two.

Haven't played in a bit, but I'm up to rank 6 and 7 in Japan, America, and Germany. Japan's fighters are my favorites so far; take their heavy fighter to above bomber-altitude, and start seriously tearing into their bombers while their fighters can't gain altitude fast enough to stop me. When that 37mm cannon hits a bomber, something's gonna break.

I've started off with the US tree. Because 'Murica. They're not that bad, but the tier 2 craft don't have that much maneuverability. They're fast and have plenty of gun, though.
I might work on the British or Japanese trees next. Probably the British. Both sound like my kind of style.

Japan's fighters usually can't take much abuse, but my god that H6K4-- I've capped bases on fire, missing half a wing, and still got kills with the gunners as the enemy tried to strafe me.

Something Something Something Guns of Icharus. Never played any of these myself. I mean, I can't even fly planes in Planetside 2, Battlefield 1942, Diddy Kong Racing...

That's what I keep hearing about the Japanese places: excellent maneuverability - made of paper and rice. That's also why I'm considering the British over them. Also, I have a slight boner for Spitfires.StoneSlinger88 wrote:Japan's fighters usually can't take much abuse

Eh, that only matters if you get hit. But the Jap bombers give a giant middle finger to silly things like "thousands upon thousands of bullets".

Re: War Thunder
Just getting back into War Thunder, I too have noticed the strength of Japanese bombers. I'm almost positive that a 152mm rocket is the best way to shoot them down aside from cannons, which are the catchall cure for any problem in War Thunder. The Beaufighters have cannons, and one of them also has machine guns and and rockets. I also have a cannon-armed Spitfire and a rocket-equipped Hurricane, which also has 12 machine guns.
I've only bothered with the British tree, and it's plenty of fun. Their bombers feel squishy, but other planes are durable or at least average.
