Icy Shake wrote:And this MDW can teleport and has wings . . . interesting. I guess the wings could be mechanical but more likely the armor has built-in teleportation capability, or there is armor to cover the wings, even if the user doesn't have them. Can't say which, just yet, but I'm leaning toward the latter.
I'm not quite prepared to accept that she can teleport. It may just be a special effect to disguise her cloaking.

Icy Shake wrote:Is that a jab at Homage? I might just be reading in something not intended. Not that she was presented as a 10kw bulb originally, but still.
More like a barometer of Chicanery's incomplete view of events. He saw Pip with some mare named Homage, but he has no idea who she is or how significant she is.

Icy Shake wrote:Most incomprehensible of all was a strange pink filly with a toy gun that somehow brought down beams of light from the skies.
This . . . makes some weird canon things happen. I'll just hope that that one's (seriously, horrendously) terrible Nightmare isn't part of PH.
You're taking what happens inside the head of a mad Canterlot ghoul as canon? :) (Assuming the Nightmare stayed inside Puppy's head, that is. I haven't actually read past chapter two.)

Icy Shake wrote:Nice to see Glory's mom again, and I guess the thing keeping everyone down is the ambient Enervation field? This should be good, and it's interesting that she seems to be at least somewhat in control.
More importantly, whatever it is that's knocked everyone out doesn't affect Boo. I'm not surprised that BJ isn't affected, since she's got super-organs that resist toxins and some kind of magical protection, but the blank? What the heck are you, Boo?

Icy Shake wrote:Yeah, I didn't want to say that KKat almost certainly made a mistake considering the context of her one use of "laser," but to paraphrase Dr. Farnsworth, I was thinking it loudly.
Pfft, like Kkat's writing is even remotely error-free.

Somber wrote:I tried to make lasers= incineration beams and plasma - disintegration spell. But Raptor plasma cannons kinda mehed that.
Well, plasma is a disintegration spell, they just happen to call it "plasma" too. I'd personally prefer to avoid using the word "plasma" as much as possible without making the wording super-awkward.

Somber wrote:Loved your observations and I'm glad I gave you some laughs. Things are going to go down hill rather quickly the next two chapters... but now BJ is tough enough to handle it.
That's the best part of the roller coaster!

I just realized this means MDW saw them enter Thunderhead. Not sure what that means yet, but... hmm.

Wouldn't MDW have to of seen their ship?
all they'd done by then was fly the ship in and hang about inside a private residence.

I'm betting her power armor's helmet has infrared vision. She'd be able to see straight through that cloud shell, then.

Ch. 60 Commentary:

Geez, it's been a struggle to find a time to read this. Finally, I have an evening free!

Chapter 60: Civilization
Bongo, bongo, bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no no
Bingle, bangle, bungle, I'm so happy in the jungle, I refuse to go...

The city was built on the inside of a massive, hollow horizontal torus of cloud, like an empty wagon tire lying on its side.
I'm surprised BJ knows the word "torus".

Along the ceiling of the hollow tube, hanging down like icicles, were hundreds of plain, cloud-hewn apartments where, from what Glory told me, the poorer folk lived.
I think this is very clever! It's the opposite of what we normally expect (rich up high, poor down low), but it makes sense when the "ceiling" is permanently shaded, so the "ground" is the only part that gets to bask in direct sunlight.

Her cry trailed away to silence as all of us stared in shock.
Oh, Rampage, you so silly...

“You did.  I was just messing with you,”
I knew it!

As the light played slowly across the surface as Thunderhead rotated, the shards of color would illuminate one spot and then another, so what was a blue bird one minute would be a blue lake ten minutes later.
I'm loving the descriptions of the interior of the Striker home. It's one heck of a gilded cage.

Boo seemed somewhat disappointed with the bland sugar cookies provided.
Leave it to Boo to keep the focus on what's important. :3

Moonshadow might be smart, but I didn’t quite trust her.  Still, for Glory, I could give it a try…
Oh, god. The shortest route between here and a calm, predictable life is selling out Glory, isn't it.

Rampage broke out bawling while we were in the kitchen with P-21 and Twister.  Apparently the movie had been all Boomer said and more.
Well, it may have struck a nerve with Twist.

I raced past the living room, where my little sister Boo waited impatiently in her soft pink dress.
;_;
No, seriously, this whole sequence is kind of heartbreaking.

“Moooom!  Blackjack is using magic to pick on me again!”
“Boo, she doesn’t need makeup.  Blackjack, don’t use magic on your sister.”
Heartbreaking, but I laughed pretty good at that.

I’d seen Enclave power armor before, but I’d never seen power armor like this.  It wasn’t the clunkier Neighvarro style of armor nor the smoother lines of Thunderhead; this armor concealed every inch of their body, even the undersidse of their wings.  The uniform black was broken by lines of purple./quote]
Oh, nice. Full Shadowbolt getup, huh?

It had a black cape and a wide-brimmed hat, of all things!
Oh my holy horse apples.

“Nopony you need to know,” they replied.  “You’re not LittlePip, are you?”
Woah woah woah. Woah. A pony who knows Littlepip by name, but not by face. Who wears (or is...) a suit of Shadowbolt armor modified with the trappings of a masked hero who appeared for a few days in, let's be honest, a backwater town two centuries ago. Who showed specific interest in Glory, who looks like Rainbow Dash.

Calling it now. This is either Rainbow Dash all cybered up after her fight with Gilda, or a robot imprinted with Dash's brain-scan.

“No.  I’m Security.  Blackjack, to my friends.”  I saw the mare start at my name.  “You’ve heard of me.”
...
“You’re not one of the bad ponies, but I can’t let you stay if you’re going to do what she said you would.”
She?  She who?
...
“I don’t know if she was right about you or not, but I can’t risk you throwing everything off."
'She'... being Pinkie, maybe?

“Originally the mare was a wealthy transvestite recluse named Spruce Mane.  He dressed up as the Mysterious Mare Do Well and flew around Thunderhead trying to arrest criminals… until the Enclave got sick of it and locked him up.  A few years later he tried it again with ‘Batmare’,” Moonshadow said matter-of-factly.  For some reason, a tiny blue pegasus in my mind rolled over laughing at the other five.
Well, okay. So the identity wasn't confined to Ponyville after all. Still, my assertion stands. I'll bet before that, there was a power-armored trooper who would occasionally appear out of nowhere to help people.

Every now and then when there’s a fight with some slavers or raiders and your ass is toast… bam!  She appears.
I'd take that perk over Mysterious Stranger any day!

A flashy, bold animation done in brilliant colors was starting, and I froze in bewilderment as I stared at an animated copy of myself blasting away raiders… or were they mutants… with a shotgun and a maniacal grin.  Next to me was an annoyed-looking LittlePip.  A cocky Calamity flew overhead while P-21, far more sulkily handsome than ever, blasted a whole battalion of feral ghouls with a missile launcher, then coolly blew his bangs out of his face.  And where’d he get that bandana?  A vapid Homage and gray-coated Glory hung in the background.  Most incomprehensible of all was a strange pink filly with a toy gun that somehow brought down beams of light from the skies.  Rampage seemed cast as a villain, wearing bladed armor and grinning psychotically.  The animation ended with the bold title of ‘Wastelander!’ and that it was coming next month to the ‘Fantasy Channel’.
what.
What.
WHAT.

...

And now, the Ember Island Players!

She took in my metallic limbs and plates fused to my hide and had a completely rational reaction to a cybermare appearing out of thin air: she screamed at the top of her lungs as she backed away as rapidly as possible.
It's too bad BJ isn't quicker on the draw. "Sorry to startle you, Ma'am! Howdy-doo, everypony! I'm Blackjack. Be good, or I'll shoot you dead. And be sure to watch "Wastelander!" next month on the Fantasy Channel!"

Then the crowd erupted in cheers, and a white stallion with a silver mane and a spectrum burst for a cutie mark pushed his way forward.  His eyes were hidden by opaque black glasses.  “That was magnificent!  Exactly how BJ would do it, Babe.” He put a hoof around my shoulder and waved to the crowd.  “But you weren’t supposed to start the publicity stunts until next week!”
Or that. Then again, with a name like Chicanery, I wouldn't be surprised if he knows this is the real BJ...

“Wow.  Blackjack.  I mean… wow.  I don’t know what to say.”
Well okay then.

“It allows the wearer to spy on the experiences of a pony wearing a PipBuck.”
Well. Okay then!

This wasn’t a wild ride.  I’d done this before; a whole lot before.  It was the same sensation I had in the dozens of memory orbs I’d been in.
Hah, nice. That brings up a good point, that Chicanery's experience is puddle-deep. I mean, sure, it's great that he can see what's really going on and communicate it to the populace, but he's probably got practically nothing of BJ's memory orb experiences.

“It’s something the Tower picked up a few weeks ago, being transmitted from space.”
I DO NOT SPEAK YOUR CRAZY MOON LANGUAGE.

I’d heard it before.  I heard it all the time down in the tunnels.  The scream of Enervation.  That it was a signal too was even more unnerving.  It was like speech that melted flesh.
God, that's creepy. It's... the Eater is TRANSMITTING this?! Or is it Cog, playing repeater? Or some automated system from the Tokomare? GAAAAAH.

“Last one?”  Moonshadow blinked at the filly in confusion, then her eyes widened.  “Right.  I always seem to forget about that signal.  It’s coming from Black Pony Mountain.”  She announced it, and immediately I felt a strange indifference fall over me.  It wasn’t important.  That was just a boring chunk of black rock.  Nothing special about it at all.  And clearly everypony agreed.
Fuuuuuuck. That is one powerful and long-range SEP field.

I let out a sigh of relief as I returned to my own body.  “Thanks.  That was… interesting.”  I pushed the helmet off my head and turned to the terminal.
“Oh, it’s just starting to get interesting,” a stallion said, a stallion who shouldn’t be here.  He smiled his kind, polite smile.  The same smile he’d worn when he’d ordered Glory’s cutie mark burned off.
Lighthooves.
God damn it.

He wore some fancy new white power armor.  Something about it seemed… familiar.
Like say the same white enamel as your old legs?

“Well, I didn’t have much choice in the matter.  He’s my brother.”
...
“It’s short for ‘Legerdemain’."
Woah. And just like that... we have our name.

And I couldn’t cast a spell to save my life...
But I could end one.
With a thought, a basic counterspell targeting myself, I scattered the magic that allowed me to walk on clouds and gravity took me.  My last sight of Lighthooves was his eyes widening in shock and a flash of crimson before I disappeared into the the white fluffiness.
Bad. Ass.

o/~ If ever you're in need of help she will show up with a smile
And indescribable velocity, impeccable style
Agility in spades and pegasine charisma to match
And when you're falling you can count on her to be there to catch... o/~

I forced my eyes open to see four pegasi flying around me.
Aw. I was hoping MDW would catch her.

I still had my sword, the cloak, Vigilance, and an assault carbine in my saddlebags, but I didn’t know where Duty and Sacrifice had fallen to.
Aww... hopefully, Chicanery has them now, so he can return them when he goes down to see the surface for himself...

I stopped, took her by the shoulders, and stared right into her blue eyes.  “Skyshine... I’m not an actress.  I’m a surfacer who’s come up here in order to stop a battle between Neighvarro and the Enclave.  This isn’t a costume.  I’m a cybernetically augmented unicorn.  I was beaten to a pulp by a secret agent who possesses a biological weapon that could kill tens of thousands.  Okay?  I was not beaten by my coltfriend.  I’m gay, anyway.  All right?  That is what is going on.”  A little inaccurate, but I’d had a rough day.
She blinked at me, then tapped her hooves.  “Really?”
“Yes.  Really,” I said with a sigh of relief and waited for the freak out or the accusations of me being crazy.
“So... your marefriend beat you up?"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahaaaaaaaohhh Celestia I needed that.

Jokes about domestic abuse have no right to be that funny. XD

Lies, the truth, and everything inbetween all rolled up in a huge ball inside me and I sat down hard.  “Look.  Call Professor Moonshadow and let her know that Blackjack is here for her meeting with Doctor Morningstar.  I’ll take a seat.”  And I trotted over to a couch and sat down with a huff.
All she needs is a clipboard, really.

Blue tendrils of Killing Joke lunged at my face!  Out came Vigilance and up went S.A.T.S. before I realized that the slithering blue vines had slammed up against a clear glass barrier.  A large glass jar full of Joke sat in the middle of a lab that was far closer to what I’d been expecting.
Holy hell! I guess Glory may be getting a cure sooner than anticipated...

“At tat tat tat!” he said rapidly as he started to circle me.  “Do not disturb my observations!  It is very important not to form a biased impression of the subject!”
I'm getting a weird mix of Doc Brown and Yoda, here.

“And that LittlePip!  Ooooh, she can fix my toaster any day.”  He then blinked.  “No.  Really.  She can.  Darn thing has been broken forever!”
I like him already.

I pulled out my sword and pricked my shoulder.  Then I flicked the drop of blood on to the bark, where it instantly was sucked inside.  A few more drops of Flux, and I saw the telltale swell of a bulb at the end of one of the drooping limbs.  The milky sack didn’t get much larger than a hoof before it quivered and split open... dropping out something spherical and white.  I caught it.  An eye with a bright red iris looked back at me.
My eye.
Holy. Shit. Replacement wing ahoy!

No.  We weren’t meeting with the Councilor till the morning.  Why would she send ponies here in the middle of the night?
And more to the point, why come in person? This is... really really weird.

“Welcome to my house, Blackjack,” Dawn said calmly, “Can I get you a drink?”  Cradled in her lap was the severed head of the mare that I’d hoped against hope would be able to stop this train wreck.  Blood-soaked but still recognizable as the mare Lacunae and I had seen in that meeting.  Councilor Stargazer.
The Wasteland had come to Thunderhead.
You know? I'm not even shocked anymore. I'd had my money on Lighthooves, but either way...
Can I gush? Of course I can, it's my post, why am I asking you? This chapter was just amazing. I think this is my favorite chapter for a long time! A great contrast with the previous chapters, too. Maripony had this sense of unstoppable dread, with BJ getting dragged along whether she liked it or not and the reader knowing what's about to happen. This chapter, on the other hoof, was a wild, wooly, utterly unpredictable thrill ride. I loved how the shift in setting provided so much opportunity for sudden reversals and unexpected opportunities (and a decent dose of hilarity!) I think pretty much everyone just got a wrench thrown into their plans (except maybe Cognitum), and it'll be fascinating to see how it all shakes out.

Good luck in Vegas, Somber! Watch out for Fiends!

...to the elegant and classic buildings of Canterlot...
I believe this hsould be "classical".

Once we were inside the ring, Glory’d directed us towards the far side of the city.
No need to tell this in the past perfect tense. "Once we were inside the ring, Glory directed us..."

“That’s better,” Glory said with the air of a foalsitter, “Honestly…”
Period after "foalsitter".

“Relax, Glory” Rampage smirked.
Comma after "Glory".

The soaring great room rose up for three stories with balconies reaching out like clamshells from between corinthian columns.
Capitalize Corinthian. Because Corinthian columns have ornate capitals. :3

As the light played slowly across the surface as Thunderhead rotated, the hards of color would illuminate one spot and then another, so what was a blue bird one minute would be a blue lake ten minutes later.
There shouldn't be two "as" clauses in a row here. AS the light played AS Thunderhead rotated. Should be something like, "As Thunderhead rotated, the light played slowly across the surface, illuminating one spot and then another..."

We’d moved into a library where enchanted, vaporous shelves held books old even before the war began.
I would advise you to make this "books that had been old".

Two identical young dove gray fillies with pink manes listened to Glory and Dusk with matching expressions of awe.
"Dove-gray" should be hyphenated. This also seems like a lot of descriptors to line up -- personal preference, I would pop "identical" out into a separate phrase, like, "Two young dove-gray fillies with pink manes, practically identical, listened to Glory and Dusk with matching expressions of awe."

Twilight’s book said it would last for three days, but I wasn’t as good at magic as she was.
"It" isn't specified. Should say "the spell".

The door opened with the slightest of rasps all on its own, and as quietly as I could I slipped out of bed.
could, I

They approached me, “I’m the one telling you to get out of here.
Period after "me".

Who knows what might have been left over in your head,” Rampage said as carved her pancakes with her hoofclaws.

I think there's a phrase missing here... the surface samples who brought back?

I supposed that the Enclave would like to be covering it up entirely but that when a balefire bomb went off some ponies were likely to notice.
I supposed that the Enclave would have liked to cover it up entirely, but when a balefire bomb went off, some ponies were likely to notice.

I raced through a sidewalk café, lifting tables, chairs, and pegasi above me and dropped them down as I rushed past.

Wasn't she courting burnout like half an hour ago?

Showing signs of dermal trauma and restoration hinting at magical restoration.
Change one occurance of "restoration". I'd recommend "magical regeneration".

I levitated him up and turned him to face me.  “Now.  Please,” I added.
About ten minutes ago, she had to try three times to manage a cloudwalking spell.
Ah, thank you.

SilentCarto wrote:No need to tell this in the past perfect tense.
No, because Blackjack is describing something that happened prior to her saying this; since the story is told in past tense, simple past tense here would put it in the story's "present"… I think. That's how Blackjack was able to describe what the inside looks like.

Sorry, but why?

Sigh… I still think that that sentence is fine as is, but, given the sheer number of people pointing it out as an error, I'll put your correction in.

It could be that, but it looked like a teleport, and Blackjack described it as such, so we really have no reason to decide it wasn't one.

For that matter, we didn't actually see that she had wings.  We saw that the all-concealing power suit had wings, which isn't the same thing.  We didn't see Mare Do Well flying on 'em, so we can't be sure.  She might've been a teleport-capable unicorn under the hat, using a cloudwalking spell (which is common knowledge among the Tower-dwelling unicorn population).  Anyway, Rampage reported that MDW on the surface sometimes uses powerful magic to fight, other times unarmed or guns.  I think that alone supports the idea that MDW is continuing as a persona shared by many individuals.

All of which doesn't exclude Ghoul-Dash, Robo-Dash, or Cyborg-Dash from having been the founding member, of course.  It's entirely possible.  (And I could totally see the head of the Ministry of Awesome commissioning a realistic brain-scan droid from Apple Bloom to cover for her when she wanted to get out of the office or something.)

But, I think it's more likely that Dash's fate remains a mystery, and MDW is just a legacy passed down through two centuries as the non-face of an utterly secret organization.  And when the authorities got too close, they provided a scapegoat to deflect suspicion (or possibly Spruce tried to copycat, too awkwardly to be accepted in to the order, and they turned him in as a handy scapegoat).

I know, right?

That's an incredibly powerful defense spell it's got going.  A megaspell level "don't notice me" spell, if it's able to affect perceptions from a site dozens of miles away, if not more...

I thought that was actually creepier than the Goddess.  The Goddess was a mental invasion, but it's big and overt.  This is so subtle that it's terrifying.
Aye. There's definitely something big there, an Ursa Major by most accounts.

Speculation:

Now, you'll notice that an Ursa Major is known as a starspawn. Stars.

Methinks that the Eater of Souls/Tokomare is located there, or at least, a large chunk of it. Maybe they lopped bits off of it to make Horizons, or maybe it's just the center of the impact

I'd rather not get a response about this theory from any of you official writers/editmen, as it's more fun when it's a surprise.

Also, is Dream Blackjack who she'd be in show canon?

Well, firstly (actually, firstly, I'm pretty sure that the "post the link" thing is a typo, but I try not to edit author's notes too much), I expect that, whatever estimate Somber gives, the actual number of chapters will be more than that.  Secondly, I believe that that five is just for the stuff after the Core (the details of the stuff not being specified for reasons of spoiler prevention), putting the total estimate at 8-10 chapters.
Okay, yes, that's the same way I read it -- Five chapters from now we'll just be finishing the Core, and AFTER THAT, it's five MORE to finish the story.  (And yes I'm seeing that as a low estimate as well.)

Well, people were interrupting me while I read.

It goes without saying that I'd read a story about that too, if it existed.
It also reminded me of Happyhorn too. In my headcanon multiverse, Happyhorn is Blackjack in FoE proper (no Goldenblood, OIA, etc.) Rarity's still doing some equivalent of Project Eternity, and the war's going on, but the additions to the canon aren't there.

You could also probably say that the dreams are Blackjack's "mended" (I use this term in the loosest possible sense, since this is still Blackjack we're talking about) brain recreating a nicer version of the Happyhorn simulation.

I have brought dishonor upon my family. I will now read an incoherent Twilight fanfic in penance.

Personally I think the Eater of Souls is a alicorn inside the star metal.  If it's called star metal then it obviously comes from a star, and when blackjack died she saw a alicorn go supernova.  So that means the star the alicorn was linked to is dead, the question is what happened to the alicorn?  All non-hydrogen elements came from stars.  The matter that we are made of came from stars.  When the super massive stars at the beginning of the universe went supernova all of the elements we come to love were created.  Equestria was made from the explosion of a star.  All planets were made from stars.  Our sun was made from the original stars in the universe.  It's not that big of a stretch to guess that star metal came from a star or that the Eater Of Souls came from a star either.

If that is true then wouldn't that mean the eater of souls is a alicorn from one of the stars at the beginning of the universe?

It is theorized that our universe is part of a larger multiverse.  The multiverse theory states that our universe is a m-brane in a massless energyless universe, and that the big bang wasn't the only big bang to have existed.  The reason being is that energyless space is extremely unstable and that it destabilizes and in a instant the big bang happened.  Eventually our "universe" will go through entropy decay until all our matter and energy dissapates into to near nothingness and then probably another universe will be born.  At the beginning of our universe super massive stars were born made from hydrogen, then they lost energy rapidly cause the larger a star the faster it goes through it's energy, when it hits iron game over it dies.  The iron in your frying pan is the ultimate destroyer in the universe cause it EXPLODED a star.  I'm not even talking about massive amount, rather when iron hits the internal fusion reaction in a star it starts a rapid chain reaction in which it creates heavier and heavier elements none of which produce enough energy to keep the fusion reaction going until it dies.  Then the fusion reaction stops and if it's large enough it explodes and creates our planet and such after a long time.

How does this tie into FoE and mlp?

If their universe was made in a similar way then that would mean magic and "souls" or what have you are a type of energy that was created from stars as well.
Meaning:
1)The EoS is a alicorn.
2)The EoS's supernova is what created celestia, luna, equestria and such.
3)Magic is a type of energy.
4)Magic was created in the center of stars as well.
5)Magic probably is a type of radiation.  It could be something like their universe follows a difference set of rules and that a type of radiation in our universe follows different rules in their.  It would explain balefire bombs cause that would mean the radiation from a h-bomb instead of emitting gamma radiation and such would exert "magic" radiation instead.
6)That would mean magic is effected by gravity due to Celestia and Luna having no clear origin in any FoE lore or mlp canon, but exist.  Meaning the stars' and planets' gravity well causing "magic" radiation to get sucked up like regular matter and thus Celestia and Luna are magically brewed beings.
7)Enervation is a magic "gravity" well sucking up "magic" instead of letting it dissapate.
8 )The reason why Celestia and Luna exist, but not a equestria alicorn is that there's no life on the sun or moon thus the magic that would have normally gone into making a alicorn in equestria went into life instead.

Tl:dr; What if instead of gamma radiaton a universe had "magic"?

Don't worry take your time.  If you need to expand the chapters any bit do so.  If you need to take more time to make them then we can wait.  Just do what you need to do to write the story, just don't wrap it up too fast.

So I haven't gotten around to that re-read yet, but I just realized this:

PH ch. 60 wrote: I raced past the living room, where my little sister Boo waited impatiently in her soft pink dress. “You’re not dressing up? You should dress up. Mom, make her dress up!”
“Ugh! We don’t have time,” I groaned. “He’s not going to care if I’m not all frou-froued up!”
We need speculation on who 'he' refers to. Is it P-21? Stygius? Lancer? It is of utmost importance! Twilight crazy

Two questions please: What's the address for that imageboard, (I can't find it for some reason,) and will stuffing it through google translate give a semi-inteligible translation?

Wow... that is some intense theorizing. I don't think that the EoS is an alicorn though, or at least not in the same sense that any of the princesses were alicorns. I think it's something more akin to Discord except ramped up by a thousand. A deeply malicious and intelligent neutron star, its immense physical and metaphysical mass sucking in all that approaches. It's seen as a whirling maelstrom of damnation because it's a whirling maelstrom of damnation. It's not an alicorn in the starmetal, the alicorn is the starmetal.

That, or it's that goddamn space whale.

The EoS could have been a alicorn before it's star died, but yeah it's probably not a 100% alicorn anymore with it's star dead. If it still has a physical body that it could walk around in it probably is not going to be a pretty sight at all.

Given the enemies that Blackjack's fought so far, that actually really wouldn't surprise me.

Especially if it is Black Pony Mountain.

I was thinking more along the lines of a super lich ghost zombie alicorn with it's guts falling out and evaporating into nothingness and every step it takes anything it touches dies instantly as the victim's soul is sucked instantly out with it constantly saying, "make us whole" and every time it touches a victim you can see the victim's soul get sucked out and part of the alicorn's body you can see a head and hooves under the alicorn's skin of it's victim mouthing and hear in your head the words, "help me" psychically before being silenced.

No, my thing is... if the whole house has been affected by the sleep spell, who let the Councilor in? And what more, was Dawn waiting for them, or just happened to show up and start killing them anyways? Only thing I can safely say is that Dawn did not go out of her way to kidnap the Councilor and all her guards just to slaughter them in the house, they somehow got in the house and was killed when they was deeper inside.
I suspect that Stargazer was coming to capture the "Dashite" and her surfacer friends, either on Moonshadow's say so or after giving Moonshadow a big smile and assuring her that she'd do the right thing. The question, I think, is whether Dawn is under continuous control by Cog or if she's still in charge unless she crosses Cog. If Dawn is in charge, she may have acted to protect her family. If not, then I'm concerned that Cog is setting the household up for a murder rap.

But to control the weather throughout Equestria? Sure, it was a weapon. Sure, it was a defense system, too.
And, yeah, sure it meant there'd be no more need for weather ponies. This was industry, though. We could make it, so we did. At least it was protected by a shield that NOBODY BUT RAINBOWDASH should have been able to enter. Not that that stopped Celestia.
Okay, lemme see here... first, remember that the MAw was Equestria's black ops division. Dash didn't just lead the Shadowbolts; that's simply all she did publically (outside of the SPP). Second, the shield was originally keyed to all the Ministry Mares, both princesses, and probably several other higher-ups. But when Celestia invested her soul into the system, shield included, one of the effects was making the shield effectively impermeable to everyone. Thus the Enclave's increasingly frustrated attempts to penetrate it.

White with no armament makes me think "medic", so would Fluttershy of ever worn something like this?
Perhaps it looks similar to Dawn's cyberskin?

Totally don’t even remember her losing that thing.
Edit from the future:
She didn't lose it on the Celestia, since she showed it to Sanguine in chapter 39.
So... what happened?
She did drop it when she destroyed HMS Celestia. Her having it in Ch. 39 was an error I pointed out in my chapter review, and Hinds corrected it -- you must have an outdated copy of the chapter.

Must be magic... though, if that's the case, why wouldn't they hit Boo with it?

Okay, even more confused... why is Boo awake?
That is an excellent question...

Serious time now...

IIRC, Boo was already showing signs of being a "special" blank even before they came into contact with Discord (at least "on-screen"), so the evidences would tend to point to Boo being something special in the first place. If only special in the "one in a million fluke of the system" brand of the matter.

Somber didn't originally say they were in disguise. I didn't think of the fact that the earth ponies could just be wearing fake horns until halfway into that rant. I just left it in because I don't tend to delete anything as it goes against the point of the reading review.

SilentCarto wrote:But when Celestia invested her soul into the system, shield included, one of the effects was making the shield effectively impermeable to everyone. Thus the Enclave's increasingly frustrated attempts to penetrate it.
...what.
Where does it say that?
Why is the shield in any way a part of the SPP system? It makes about as much sense for the shield to be integrated into the weather controls as it would to have the AC plugged in as well. These systems have nothing to do with each other.

(continuation of my previous post regarding Boo)

She was special in the sense that while the other blanks seemed happy enough to stay close to each other and close from the machine that birthed them until they died of thirst and hunger, Boo actually moved from the herd and started acting as an individual, with some measure of survival instinct.

And what we see today is that her survival instinct is among the things that makes us say that she "has a score of 10 in luck".

But she shouldn't be undergoing such rapid increases. When Blackjack encountered her, she was at the level of a medium-intelligence dog, and if it was due to glitch in the cloning process, she should have stayed at that level.
