It also helps that Roosterteeth has special connections to 343 industries and Bungie.

not surprising since it was likely they all started out with a forge set of video capture and voice over work with editing that just grew into something more

Meh. Not bad for an internet production, but the plot seems like it's going to be very formulaic, almost troperish.
We'll see, I guess.

Re: RWBY Is Here
I get that they don't want to make a 3d model for every character but that animation is pretty lazy. Also I thought I heard ray at one point... Yeah I'm not sure why they chose to use the achievement hunters. I guess the joke is lol bad voice acting but if I'm honest it takes me out of it a little.

Not bad. Animation was a little stiff at times, but not bad.

To specify I was talking about when it went 2D with the reporter. I only saw two frames. Though a lot of the animation that's not high speed combat does look as robo put it: stiff.

The art shift of the news report's actually on purpose. Unlike the regular 3D models, it's actually hand drawn.
As for the animation, the fight scenes do flow really smoothly, and I'm pretty certain that as the series goes along, it'll get better.
If you do have any misgiving about the plot, give a few episodes to allow it to really get going before you make any judgements.

Re: RWBY Is Here
Episode 2 is out.
- Review:
Have to say, not too impressed with this episode as I was with the first episodes and the four trailers.
First off, it was half the length of the first episode, which means a lot less content than I was expecting right off the bat.
Secondly, was not expecting Ruby to go "Chibi Form Fangirl" over seeing some awesome weapons that we don't even get to see.
After that, Ruby suddenly gets abandoned by her sister and we find out that Weiss is apparently a stuck up rich kid heiress, something that her own trailer didn't even hint at.
Finally, Ruby get's acquainted and has a quick talk with another new student named Jaune Arc about motion sickness and weapons.
And all the while, the only action in the episode was an explosive sneeze.
All that being said, though, is still not a reason to give up on the series just yet. I can name several different anime shows who take a couple of episodes after the initial pilot to show real action and plot, and after watching Monty's other works(Haloid, Dead Fantasy, the CG fight scenes of RvB), I can pretty much guarantee that he still has plenty of awesome, over-the-top action in store for us.
